    John Calvin and Calvinism.

Do you ever use scripture? Can you post some scripture regarding these two different calls? John said he was writing his gospel message so that we may have fellowship with him. I don't get the message you understand. I posted many verses. Maybe you could pick one or two and explain them to...

    Suffering

Of course you're right in your last sentence of 1 Peter 3:17-18 How I understand this entire passage is that we are to do good and bring good into the world. IOW, it's not enough to NOT do evil.... It's necessary to do good... And if we have to suffer to do this good, then so be it. Better to...

    Suffering

No, it's not. But we are helped by the Holy Spirit. Don't you find that you sin a lot less as time goes by? No need to answer a personal question, however, this is how it should be. We grow in our faith and become ever more aware of sins and how to avoid them. However, temptation has nothing to...

    John Calvin and Calvinism.

How is that? It can't be both. God in 3 persons makes 3 gods.
  5. GodsGrace

    John Calvin and Calvinism.

No time to post.... But did want to say that it's THREE PERSONS IN ONE GOD Not One God in three persons. Soon...

    Suffering

Yes, I believe suffering is evil. But there's little we can do about it. If everyone belonged to the Kingdom of God here on earth, we'd have only natural evil to deal with (sickness, drought, etc.) As it is, we also have the other 2 problems causing evil...ourselves and others. It's OK if you...

    Suffering

How is repentance challenging when you know what it means? It just means changing your way, your direction. Are you headed for the evil one, or are you headed for God? If you're headed for God, then you've changed your way, you've repented, and are walking into God's arms---waiting for you.

    Suffering

Agreed. Jesus never said to go and be free of suffering. He said to go and sin no more. He healed some persons...not everyone. We're asked to pick up our cross and carry it... God helps us to carry it, though we still feel the pain. Imagine if we didn't know God...

    Suffering

I don't understand V, What do you mean by If we don't partake of the flesh and blood? We ARE flesh and blood, it's Jesus that became like us. So He could be perfect and atone for our sins and make satan powerless in our lives.

    Suffering

    OK So I guess I haven't repented...

    Suffering

No Bob... It means that if we want to be a part of God's Kingdom, here and now, we need to repent and join in by being disciples of Jesus. Jesus said that in this world we will have tribulation, but we are to rejoice because jesus has overcome the world and our strength is in Him. He taught us...

    Suffering

I could hope this for you, but it's not taught in scripture. Jesus said to pick up our cross daily. In the Beatitudes, Matthew 5 specifically, He was addressing the suffering of persons. We will suffer on this earth until the day we die. Not being negative,,,just truthful.

    Suffering

Suffering is what we place under the heading of evil. I don't think it should be necessary, but it's woven into creation somehow. All suffering has one of 3 causes: Ourself Others Nature So even if you had lived a perfect life, you still would have experienced suffering. Simply because you're...

    Death penalty.

Ronald, you don't know what you would do, you just think you do. I think @kcnalp is saying that we are not God and the justice system is not perfect and innocent persons have been put to death. The problem as I see it is that the guilty do not remain in jail, thus what to do?

    John Calvin and Calvinism.

Great point GH ! Why does God need to blind those that are already born blind??

Tonga volcano: satellite footage of eruption

LOL I see @Lambano gave you a like. He/she should come to Italy. Every town looks like this!! They're all very quaint. (these would be the hill towns).
  17. GodsGrace

    John Calvin and Calvinism.

Of course. And a heresy is just what is not agreed upon by orthodox Christianity...mainline Christianity. And the reformed are the ONLY "denomination" that believe as they do.
  18. GodsGrace

    John Calvin and Calvinism.

You think every verse is to be taken literally? You believe the earth and everything in it was created in 6 days? You believe the O.T. was right in every way...although it was written by men... it was inspired NOT written by the hand of God. You believe that more than you believe JESUS, God...
  19. GodsGrace

    John Calvin and Calvinism.

Pretty silly question R God IS HOLY What does that mean to you? But let's try 2 Timothy 2:13 13If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself. Maybe Deuteronomy 7:9 9Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love...

    John Calvin and Calvinism.

Why don't you post some verses like I do? Because you state something, does not make it so. Calvinism is heretical, which is more than unbiblical. It's GNOSTIC. Which I've explained already. No sir. The early church taught baptism, obedience, and free will. I'll be happy to post many...
