Is there salvation outside the Catholic Church?

I know that the early church baptized infants and why. But you state that this was UNANIMOUSLY claimed by the ECFs to be an Apostolic practice handed down to them... Do you have some writing regarding this? I don't personally know of any --- this does not mean the writings don't exist.

Is there salvation outside the Catholic Church?

Most theologians agree that the ECFs goes to 325 AD...which is what I agree with. Some will go up to about 600. I don't believe after 700 they could be considered ECFs. Early Christian Writings: New Testament, Apocrypha, Gnostics, Church Fathers Church Fathers - New World Encyclopedia

Is there salvation outside the Catholic Church?

Priests should have taught their parishioners that they should NOT pray to statues. Some persons DID almost worship the statue. I remember when persons would go to their favorite statue and kneel before it and pray to it, or they couldn't pray. This is ignorance that priests allowed to...

Is there salvation outside the Catholic Church?

Oh, somebody stop me! When I say something about the CC, I'm always right. I think BoL and epostle stay at home and read up on the CCC or old bulls, or something. I like to keep in touch with what the church is teaching NOW, what it believes and where it is going. They don't like change, so...

How do you address opposing Scripture verses?

Aha. Well, speaking face to face with God does not mean that the person SAW HIS FACE. It means that they spoke to each other in a personal way. This could also be looked up, I'm sure. God is spirit and He cannot be seen.

How do you address opposing Scripture verses?

I'd have to agree with what you did, although I'm really not one to give personal advice. Every situation is different. As to turning the other cheek... You could look this up. It has to do with pride. Slapping one on the cheek was showing disrespect. Turning the other cheek to him was saying...

Is there salvation outside the Catholic Church?

Don't you and BoL know that the catholic church is teaching these days? Are you so stuck in the Council of Trent that you can't get up to date? Are you ALSO of the opinion that remarried persons receiving communion, in the stte of mortal sin, is NOT a change in doctrine? You should speak to...

Is there salvation outside the Catholic Church?

So the CCC is in conflict with itself? See what the following states: And you REALLY should stop telling lies about the CC. 1271 Baptism constitutes the foundation of communion among all Christians, including those who are not yet in full communion with the Catholic Church: "For men who...

Is there salvation outside the Catholic Church?

Thanks E. I still believe purgatory came much later than the time of the Apostles. It's also based on 1 Corinthians 3: 9-15 and also on the parable of the unmerciful servant, Matthew 18:13-21 The link to the CCC would not state this. The following is from New Advent... I do believe it took...

Is there salvation outside the Catholic Church?

I was watching a serious movie about a true story that took place in the late 1800's. A priest told a parishoner that there is no salvation outside of the church. It reminded me of your thread. This was true, as you know. NOW, it's not true anymore. (as per the CCC and what the CC actually is...

Is there salvation outside the Catholic Church?

You can't converse with humans. You don't LISTEN to what people say. You don't respond with respect. You just like to argue and belittle. You sin every time you do this. Colossians 3:13-23

    Total Inability: Genesis 1-4

And thus....limited atonement. Gotcha. I'd have to read up on limited atonement again and it's late now. But if it reads what you said, I could agree. IOW,,, Jesus died for believers...it's of no value for Him to have died for unbelievers.

Is there salvation outside the Catholic Church?

Sure it basically agrees with me! I believe you also know your stuff. And, as my mother used to tell me: The smarter one stops first. No use arguing with BoL...nothing seems to sink in.

    Total Inability: Genesis 1-4

What do you mean? The N.T. teaches that Jesus carried the sins of the whole world... 1 John 2:2 Past, present and future. But we still need to confess them... And it IS salvation that is OFFERED...As usual, I say that we must ACCEPT this offering. John 3:16 is an exhortation. What do you mean...

For whoever is reading and is interested... OzSpen is who he says he is and more.... He is rather modest TTYTT. He has a public page with his name on it, so he is not giving away any information that is not public. I do agree that there is no need for any of us to prove what we might say about...

Is there salvation outside the Catholic Church?

Could you give me some verses? I've always learned (from the CC) that purgatory came about hundreds of years after the church.

How do you address opposing Scripture verses?

I've always known that God Father does not have a body...He is spirit. The above makes sense... and yes, what was seen was the Son, or the 2nd person of the Trinity. Even when God appeared to Moses, He was seen only from behind. When God walked thru the carcasses of the animals cut in half for...

Is there salvation outside the Catholic Church?

I doubt you'll get evidence of statues in early churches. Churches were not "official" buildings... Christians were being persecuted.... And I really can't find any writings on this...not that I've read everything of course. This practice probably started with paintings on walls and then...
