Agree, I believe it means taking the work of the Cross 'in vain', as in , not full commitment it allowing it to work in the life. Just like grace...2 Cor 6:1 “We then, as workers together with Him, beseech you that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.” They held the grace of God in vain...
