    Are you catholic?

I agree. Also, I find it important to know what the church does with my money. Haven't given much lately. I've stopped going to church for a while. I do this every now and then.

    Are you catholic?

Good point. Which brings up the question: Is insistence on tithing really stealing?

    Are you catholic?

Stranger, you might have missed some points. The parents did not KNOW the OP was taking the dime. ...something I could understand a child doing if not properly raised or if feeling deprived. Were you perfect at the age of nine? Your point of the OP doing wrong as a child is moot because when...

    Are you catholic?

You think I'm lying too? I never would think you were. And why? You don't like what I said. Did you read my other post? About the guy who would go at collection time only, drop in his envelope, and then leave. His daughter was accepted. Nice? I'm proving nothing. Take it or leave it I'm not on...

In NYC they did. You're calling me a liar again.

Once Saved....always Saved - Results of Questionnaire.

Looks like we agree. I forgot about the Natural Law. Even non-believers know about the Natural Law, but, who knows, subjective morality might be interrupting that too.

Once Saved....always Saved - Results of Questionnaire.

The above is for @Taken, but... This has confused me somewhat. We have sin in the world after the first man sinned. But then we have to contend with: Romans 4:15 and Romans 5:13 Romans 4:15 15for the Law brings about wrath, but where there is no law, there also is no violation. Romans 5:13...

    Tulip

Well J, if we take all of the TULIP together, it's biting off quite a bit. What bothers me the most of this teaching is the U... Unconditional Election This means that God makes the determination as to who is saved and who is not. Free will is totally removed from those that believe in...

    Are you catholic?

The NT says to give with a joyful heart. As long as one gives joyfully, it's all good. I'm just saying that people shouldn't feel coerced. Sounds like you went to small churches.

    Are you catholic?

I dislike this method. BTW, this is not done in Italy. People would just stop going to church.

    Are you catholic?

It began in 2006. What about before then??? Before then it was not necessary and records were kept for different reasons. One of which is what I stated -- for selection of children that would be picked for Catholic school acceptance based on the contribution amount of the parents. Richer kids...

    See @Butterfly 's response. Post no. 54.

    Are you catholic?

I agree absolutely. I can't remember being in a Protestant church where envelopes were used for "donations". Or, at least, not envelopes with a numbering system.

    Are you catholic?

No. It IS the point. I hold the parents responsible for the proper upbringing of children. It's not up to a child to understand the shortcomings af the adult/parent.

    Are you catholic?

Aspen, I know from personal experience that it was also used for other reasons. I gave one reason in my post no. 5.

    Are you catholic?

Sounds like there were extenuating circumstances. Maybe if he got a dime every now and then there would have been no need to take the one from the church envelope. You know what the NT says,,,love covers a multitude of sins.

    Are you catholic?

The numbers belonged to a family group. They were there to know how much each family donated. It also made people give more knowing they were being tracked.

LOL You mean when he was 9, or now?

    Blended Gospel

I have heard it plainly stated that anything a believer does after salvation does not matter. Another person stated that even habitual sin is ignored since sins have been nailed to the cross. This has come to be known as cheap grace or easy believism. Some churches make it easy to believe in...
