Are you forgetting that I know you.....you ask these Hypothetical questions with a grin your face. As it is I am the only one that I know that has a Baptismal Certificate with Christ's signature as the officiating baptizer. Flew in first class on a Boeing 737...Lord know he was holding it up...

Here is another response from an ECF Who should Baptize…. Tertullian For concluding our brief subject, it remains to put you in mind also of the due observance of giving and receiving baptism. Of giving it, the chief priest (who is the bishop) has the right: in the next place, the presbyters...

John 3:5... YES! ANOTHER BAPTISM THREAD!

Why did Paul say I came not to baptize. You would have to ask him that. I seem to recall him saying that He was glad that he did not baptize a group of people. There was a concern in the biblical era and beyond who was baptizing.

John 3:5... YES! ANOTHER BAPTISM THREAD!

Seems too me a lot of members on this forum place faith in their water baptism being the foundation of their salvation? I know of none. What if the one performing your baptism was a pagan worshiping a pagan god I would recommend against that....

John 3:5... YES! ANOTHER BAPTISM THREAD!

Well you shocked me. As smart as you are, I would never consider you would come up with such a thing. This is a topic that is near and dear to my heart. Besides it being biblical and an age old foundational belief it is one of the topics that has fractured Christ's church....Which I consider a...

    Halloween Street Preaching

You are exactly right....people thinking of coming to church have to take a double take....do we really want to become that? What would Sunday school be like for kids at that church?

John 3:5... YES! ANOTHER BAPTISM THREAD!

Acts 22:12-16 “A certain Ananias, a man who was devout by the standard of the Law, and well spoken of by all the Jews who lived there, came to me, and standing near said to me, ‘Brother Saul, receive your sight!’ And at that very time I looked up at him. And he said, ‘The God of our fathers has...

John 3:5... YES! ANOTHER BAPTISM THREAD!

Baptism is Necessary for salvation Irenaeus (120?-200), “'And dipped himself,' says [the Scripture], 'seven times in Jordan.' It was not for nothing that Naaman of old, when suffering from leprosy, was purified upon his being baptized, but it served as an indication to us. For as we are lepers...

John 3:5... YES! ANOTHER BAPTISM THREAD!

Tertullian on without Baptism there is no salvation When, however, the prescript is laid down that without baptism, salvation is attainable by none (chiefly on the ground of that declaration of the Lord, who says, Unless one be born of water, he has not life ), there arise immediately...

John 3:5... YES! ANOTHER BAPTISM THREAD!

The necessity of water Baptism for salvation is attested to by the Early Church Fathers and Scripture. The early Christians and ECF’s (Early Church Fathers) were big on water baptism even though the method could very. In winter you could substitute the river with pouring water over someone’s...

John 3:5... YES! ANOTHER BAPTISM THREAD!

You seem to be saying that both water baptism and communion have power, but it is not something we should expect to understand, yes? We can pretty much be for sure we can not understand the spiritual realm....the total understanding of God. The simplest of things like the power and authority of...

John 3:5... YES! ANOTHER BAPTISM THREAD!

You said...I see them both as outward rituals intended to serve as reminders of deep spiritual truths. As such, they hold no power in and of themselves if the spiritual principles they're designed to reflect do not become realities in a believer's life. That is fine...here is the deal...freedom...

John 3:5... YES! ANOTHER BAPTISM THREAD!

I guess you know I am not Catholic. When it comes to salvation we are trying to understand the process...the effects...the result. Because we do not understand all that is Christ and heaven, that does not mean the answer is to deny the process...Tap Christ on the shoulder and a ask Him...then...

John 3:5... YES! ANOTHER BAPTISM THREAD!

Well the discussions of Baptism and communion....salvation in general, has ripped the church apart over the centuries. So it will continue and scriptures really do not win the discussion...No matter what Christ said...no matter what Paul said...no matter how much it is repeated...let me show...
