What do you think this text says about the deity of Christ?

Hebrews 1:8-9 "But to the Son He says: 'Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness more than Your companions.'”

“...a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan, in order that it would torment me...”

Let us open up the context of 2 Corinthians 11 and 12. The context is Paul's defense of his apostleship. If one is able to boast according to the standard of the flesh, then he has more reason to boast than anyone else and he begins to compile a list of reasons to prove why this is true...

    The Problem With The Trinity

That is absolutely true. Creation is so constructed that man has no actual contact with the natural world. The world only comes to us in a series of representations which are interpreted by the brain.

    Preterism the New Frontier

Yea, I used to accept many theories of millennial teaching but, like you, I began to see that too many things simply did not add up and no one was able to answer my questions.

    The Seven Spirits of God

"And from the seven spirits who are before His throne." There is no justification for the capitalization of "spirits". This is not a description of the nature of God. a. This statement cannot be understood apart from 4:5 which reads "And there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne...

    Defending Homosexuality

This is a segment of a thread I posted sometime back on Romans 1 B. The descent into homosexuality, 26-27 “Their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural. In the same way also, the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one...

The fruit of good & evil

When Satan approached Eve in the garden, he confronts her about the tree of knowledge. Eve rehearsed the commandment that God had given to them about this tree saying, “from the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat, but of the tree that is in the midst of the garden you may not eat from...

The fruit of good & evil

Genesis 3 is the example you are looking for. How do these two trees help us to understand the triadic nature of reality and the source of a moral standard? As we move from creation to the garden, there develops an emerging discontinuity between man and his association with forbidden things...

    Defending Homosexuality

For those who may not know any better, defending homosexuality is a rationalization process by which people attempt to normalize deviant choices that cannot be justified through any legitimate psychological exercise. This is simply an attempt to placate a conscience that cannot harmonize the...

    Defending Homosexuality

I agree. As Paul said in 1Cor 5:9-13, "I wrote you in my letter not to associate with immoral people; I did not at all mean with the immoral people of this world, or with the covetous and swindlers, or with idolaters, for then you would have to go out of the world. But actually, I wrote to you...

    Defending Homosexuality

Peter seemed to have a much different attitude toward the writings of Paul. "...and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you, as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are...

    Defending Homosexuality

Then you do not regard Paul's writings as scripture given to him from the Holy Spirit?

    Defending Homosexuality

The uniqueness of Paul's conversion does not subtract from the fact that what he wrote in ALL of his letters was from the Holy Spirit.

    Defending Homosexuality

That doesn't seem to stop you from judging his behavior.

    Defending Homosexuality

LOL...Are you suggesting Paul and James were not mature Christians? Sounds to me like you are passing judgment on these two apostles yourself.

    Defending Homosexuality

Sounds to me like you are judging your uncle according to his behavior. Isn't that what you have been telling us not to do.

    Defending Homosexuality

I think you really know better than that. All you are doing is trying to find some way to rationalize sinful behavior. If that is what you are doing, I have no intention of wasting my time with you. We have a clear mandate from the Lord regarding our responsibility to the sinner. "If any among...

    Defending Homosexuality

Surely, you can understand that this text is not addressing behavior. It is clearly defined in the text what he is referring to. He is talking about physical appearance - height and stature. He is not talking about character or behavior. It is true that as men, we are not the judge but, as...

    Defending Homosexuality

Jesus was compassionate to sinners but he also required them to stop sinning. The idea that continuing in the sin of homosexuality (or any other sin for that matter) is acceptable to God is as foreign to scripture as it can possibly be. We are to be deeply offended at such behavior.

    Defending Homosexuality

I understand Jesus' compassion toward the sinner. Just like the woman caught in adultery, he told her to go her way and stop sinning. Can I approach the homosexual in the same way in telling him or her to stop sinning?
