The (sometime) not so obvious answer

So why do Christians tend to dismiss a passage altogether when it seems to contradict another? This is probably the only cause for denominational divide. In one place: "If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his...

    4 years for what?!

I've never quite had that happen. I wouldn't put it passed some though.

    A primary problem...

The apostasy today is by one cause: too many pastors seeking too many partnerships. We should be more earnest to see our opponents burning bridges.

They turn from me, not from their wicked way.

The modern church picks and chooses which pieces and parts of the ancient Scripture works in these modern times, disregarding Jeremiah 6:16, and the rest.

    Enough (carcinogens) is Enough

Which would make sense looking at the outer structure of an apple. The joints at the ends are very porous and would have strong absorption rates.

    Enough (carcinogens) is Enough

Here he claims that 75% of the carcinogenous substances sprayed on Apple's are in the apple core.

    Enough (carcinogens) is Enough

In his book, The Healing Power of Clorophyll, Bernard Jensen, 1977, makes a very good point: "If we don't stop some of the factors causing cancer, what's the use of trying to implement a cure?"

Poll: Tattoo art - Christian perspectives: Fight it? Ignore it? appreciate/embrace it?

All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not. --1 Cor 10:23 Bartholomew: the choice to get a tattoo is always situated squarely with those things NOT BENEFICIAL. Better put: As a jewel of gold in a swine's snout, so is a...

    Burl Ives, Sometimes Reminisce

There was an old series of cassettes my mom endowed me with as a child by Burl Ives. Did anybody else listen to these: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL80cGaf0v3014_uLVlNuaW0X7g5dr27jO

    The Problem with confessing...

I think you're somewhat right; somewhat wrong. I think a review of the early parts of 1 John would serve us well here.

"Do" the prophet said, or do not. Jeremiah 6:16

Mark 12:31 is the object and or subject; between the context I've given. Mark 12:31 is equivalent with 1 Cor 13. The object with the context is equivalent to Micah 6:8-- He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and...

"Do" the prophet said, or do not. Jeremiah 6:16

The absolute context for every "love commandment:" But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way. -- 1Cor 12:31 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy. --1 Cor 14:1 Mat 22:37-38-- Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt...

"Do" the prophet said, or do not. Jeremiah 6:16

Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein. --Jeremiah 6:16

Firstly, there aren't contradictions. You're faithless if you hold that there are. There are apparent contradictions that are to be reconciled. What you're offering is not a reconciliation, it's a preference for one school of thought against another and it doesn't serve the kingdom of God...

You people aren't good readers or listeners.

How does everything fit together... the Birth of Jesus, and what follows !

You're right that modern science isn't quite science. But astrology is strictly Satanic.

How does everything fit together... the Birth of Jesus, and what follows !

Astronomy is simply the study of the "stars" as a natural element, and as phenomena of nature. As a constellation, Orion is a grouping of stars. The magi would have listened while pondering the stars, and probably had stories, but not equating with astrology.
