12-31-2022 Daytona Beach Seventh Day BAPTIST Pastor Ben “Living A Life With Purpose” Philippians 3;12-14
Here we are at church on the last Saturday, the last Sabbath of the year. It is a privilege for us to be here. Praise the Lord that we are together worshiping the only true God. In our text Paul says he is pressing on to what Christ has for him. He says he has not apprehended it yet but he knows to forget those things which are behind him and reach forward to those things which are ahead. Then Paul says he presses toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. In every year we go through different events in our life. We call this service the review of 2022, Live Life With Purpose. If you do this, you then know that money is temporary, houses are temporary and cars are temporary. Even your career is temporary but God is Eternal. Amen to that!
Because God is Eternal and we serve this Mighty God, this is what we do. Come together and worship Him in this building. Which by the way is the building that we are gathered in today. What makes this building Holy? God’s presence. Who is the temple of the Lord? We are. Who is the Church? We are. So wherever you are, you are the church. Wherever you go, you are the temple of the Lord. We use Zoom to have daily Bible studies and have been doing this for almost two years. Some people say the internet is the devil’s tool but we are using it, the technology to spread the Word of God. We want people to follow Jesus.
The Lord said we are to rejoice in the words of the Lord. We should always rejoice in the Lord. We are connected through Jesus Christ. When God’s people pray something always happens. When people meet the Lord, things change for the better. He transforms you. Hallelujah! He will have you serving God’s people and telling them the Gospel. Where was Jesus found? With the elite or helping the poor, neglected people? Jesus spent time with sinners preaching, teaching, feeding and healing them. The Pharisees criticized Jesus for this but He kept on doing it anyway. We need to do the same thing and keep working for the Lord. Never forget it is all about service to Jesus Christ and God the Father.
In our text, Paul says he hasn’t attained it yet, but he presses on that he may get a hold of what Jesus has laid out for him. Paul says he forgets those things which are behind and reaches forward to those things which are ahead. He presses forward to get the prize Jesus has for him. We did not accomplish all that we wanted to do this year but we only accomplished what the Lord allowed us to do. We must remember what it is all about. Remember that it is about serving Jesus Christ. And serving his people. The Lord has been faithful to us. We should never want to forget our goal of serving the Lord. Our goal is to mimic Him and to do what He has called us to do. We are to follow Jesus and to mimic Him for our community. We are to aim at the Eternal Life goal and get as many people as we can for JESUS!
AMEN
