Learning to tithe is a growth process, but I do feel that it is one sign of faith. After all, if we can't trust God with our money, then maybe we can't trust Him in other things either. I often wonder regarding people who say they can't tithe as why they think they can't? Is it because they are afraid of losing it? Well, if we are to lose it (if that were possible) rather on the Kingdom of God than for something worldly and materialistic. At least one will get credit in eternity for that expression of faith.I have nothing but good tithing stories. Both my wife and I lost good paying jobs to basically one that pays 2/3 what I made. Yet, we actually give more than we did---- and we tithe. Somehow, I am gaining more income (actual dollar amounts) than I did before even though I make "less". God is taking those loaves and fishes and multiplying them for us. I don't tithe to get more, but in fact, I have gotten more in response to tithing. There are those who say they are too poor to tithe. That brings to mind a story I once read about a man who wanted so much to tithe but had no income. He prayed to the Lord that he could tithe somehow. Guess what? He made lots of income and he tithed and then some. God supplied his needs because he was going to be a faithful steward. So not matter what the excuse, it boils down to the fact that any reason for not tithing is should be an embarrassment for a Christian.
