Affirmative Action....out

I just read where Trump is doing away with many of Obama's affirmative action policies that put minorities ahead of whites due to the whites being white.

Of course, Obama wanted affirmative action because it made the colleges more diverse. But who in the world required diversity as part of entering into college? Brains. Ability to solve problems. Intelligence. That should be the only requirements.

That is equal. That is fair. It just doesn't give minorities the upper hand.

I am all for equality. Let the chips fall. Of course you do need to be legal.

Affirmative Action started long before Obama, but naturally you would expect him to promote it. However, any program to give disadvantaged people a leg-up generally fails because merit has no place in it.

Had Obama (or any politician) really cared about black students, he would have followed the blueprint already created by black educator Booker T. Washington a long time ago (mid-19th to early 20th centuries). If anyone here has never read Up From Slavery (his autobiography), then it is worth reading.

Essentially what it lays out is a plan to create well-rounded educational institutions for young blacks without any Affirmative Action. They had their own schools and learned with their own people. But it was not simply worthless academic degrees. Every kind of trade was taught but even more critically the students were taught about Christian character. And they earned their way through school and became outstanding leaders and citizens.

Absolutely not. But if you take away affirmative action, our colleges and universities will be dominated by Asian people - i do not have a problem with that, but I am surprised that Stranger is ok with it

Who says that shutting out all foreign students is a bad thing? A lot of them are probably subversives working for China.

And look at many of the world leaders that hate the west and all we stand for..some now dead. Oh right..."Educated in Oxford or Cambridge" ( Uk)
