What does the fig tree represent in the parable of the fig tree ?
It only matters how it's used here:
Luk 21:29 And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree,
and all the trees;
Luk 21:30 When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.
The fig tree and all the trees are used and what is important is how all trees shoot forth in Spring which shows that Summer is near. That's the time of the harvest or Rapture and the second coming.
So, it has nothing to do with any certain event in the history of Israel, but how trees react to the changing of the seasons. One generation of people, living all at the same time will see all the signs of the coming harvest. That means the people that see the signs starting will see the last one and see the second coming etc.
Has nothing to do with a past date or Israel only.
