So I got a DVD from the library called Nerve and when I went to play it in my DVD/Blu-Ray player towards the end of the movie it kept showing a message saying "this content has been muted due to copyright reasons, please don't adjust your settings" or something. I got very confused because I got it from the library and it's not like I downloaded it illegally or something. Does anybody know what's wrong? @JohnDB, you seem to know a lot about technology, have you ever experienced this before coming from a DVD?

Not a clue about "muting" .

I know that they have encryption that keeps you from making a copy of it. If you try you will only get static.

Maybe the movie has some copyrighted music in the background, that the producers have to pay royalties for when selling each copy. And they donated it to the library under a special license but don't want to pay the royalties for the music, so the library copy was muted during the song.
