Iv tried to read the book of revelation several times, using different versions, iv prayed, listen to commentaries, bible studies and sermons on it from people with different opinions but I'm still confused about it. The Creator does not dwell in our earthly time zone, and if we understand that the first rebel was not human, but a rebellious angel, we have to get the bigger picture of why God must handle things in Universal time, not earth time....

Heres something I found on the internet. its a post by one of our brothers apparently, which has secular historians, politicians, and others providing evidence about how the world was altered after 1914. Its pretty amazing!

I don't know. I remain uncertain. There is nothing I can do about it anyway but to just continue to live my life in a righteous manner and to trust in God as He will be victorious in the end

Actually we had just the one prophesy, and got the timing wrong….we still await its fulfillment.
We should have taken note of what Jesus told us about that prophesy….

“Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but only the Father. 37  For just as the days of Noah were, so the presence of the Son of man will be. 38  For as they were in those days before the Flood, eating and drinking, men marrying and women being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, 39  and they took no note until the Flood came and swept them all away, so the presence of the Son of man will be.” (Matt 24:36-39)

Havng said that….keeping the fulfillment of the prophesy as something immanent, kept us in expectation…the very thing Jesus encouraged us to do.

“Keep on the watch, therefore, because you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. . . . On this account, you too prove yourselves ready, because the Son of man is coming at an hour that you do not think to be it”. (Matt 24:42, 44)

The other positive thing it accomplished, was to weed out those who were serving themselves, rather than serving Jehovah. When the year came and went, most of us just got on with it and assumed that we had miscalculated somewhere…..we knew the end would come, but it was in Jehovah’s hands, not ours.

Do you know why our logo is a watchtower?
It was the place on the city wall where guards were stationed in order to warn the inhabitants of any approaching threat. A warning was sounded so that the city could prepare for what might be a looming problem. However if it was a false alarm, everyone stood down and life went on as normal. No harm done.

That was the response for most of us, but some unfortunately went beyond normal preparation and were so incensed that things did not pan out as they expected, they went off in a huff, showing that they were serving themselves, not God….we were told to be patient, because God is patient.

We are progressive in our knowledge which we build every week with Bible study as a congregation, as a global brotherhood, united in our beliefs and practices. (1 Cor 1:10) It’s a continual learning process and sometimes we need to make adjustments as our knowledge progresses.
Our meetings are interactive with those who have the time to research, being able to share with the whole congregation what they have learned that week. I personally find it refreshing to be on a continual learning path….we will never know all there is to know…..

I didn't know you were JW. It doesn't bother me. I don't get hung up on minor differences. I don't fit into any denomination really but I was raised by Catholic parents.
To me your still a sister in Christ.

I think it's important to admit that we will never know everything as you said. Some things will remain a mystery to us in this world.

I remain uncertain about the end times. If it comes then it comes. There is nothing I can do about it but continue to live my life righteously and trust in God.
In the end God will triumph.

Predict the date of Christ's return "several times"? No...other predictions maybe, but unrelated to Christ's return. Because He already 'came'; in fact, Jesus is 'present' as King, now! Has been since 1914. We've understood this for over 100 years.

The prophecy recorded at Psalm 2 reveals that while "Kings of Earth" were still ruling, Jesus Christ would be installed, invisibly, as God's chosen King; and these rulers are warned to "kiss the Son".


To further understand this, it helps to translate Greek words accurately. Many English Bibles translate Matthew 24:3 (the beginning of the "Last Days" prophecy) the Greek word "parousia" as 'coming' when actually its 'presence'. We know that Christ's "presence" is invisible, because His disciples asked for "signs" in order to recognize His "presence".

Could you tell me which verse? Because at John 14:19, Jesus said, "in a little while the world will see me no more, but you will see me because I live and you will live." And we know the Bible doesn't contradict itself

And in revelation it says he will rule on earth for 1,000 years.

Remember, there's a Heavenly Jerusalem (Hebrews 12:22). Plus it says in Revelation 14:3 that those with Jesus (the Lamb) were "bought from the Earth".

So I'm skeptical that He returned in 1914. I don't see any evidence of that

That's why there are "signs" to look for. If the return was visible, there would be no need for signs.

We can speculate but as Jesus said no one knows not even Jesus himself

If we look at Matt 24:3 we see Jesus preparing his disciples for his return…they ask him…

“Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?” (ESV)

“Tell us, when will all this happen? What sign will signal your return and the end of the world?” (NLT)

“Tell us when all this will be,” they asked, “and what will happen to show that it is the time for your coming and the end of the age.” (GNT)

The word “coming” here is translated from the word Jesus used….“parousia”, which is more correctly
translated as “presence” rather than “coming”. What makes the difference?….and does it matter?

Jesus went on answer their question…they asked what would be the sign or signal of his “presence”, which would indicate the end of the current age…or “the end of the world” as we know it.

Christ’s return is tied in with how Jesus left, so if we go back in the first century after his resurrection, we will see the connection.

His apostles were gathered with him and as he was ascending upwards, they were watching as a cloud hid him from their vision….two men appeared…angels, who told them something about his return…
Acts 1:9-11…can you read that and tell me what the angels said….? And what you think they meant…?

So im guessing that you interpret this as no one will see Jesus coming.

Ok but in Mathew 24:27 it says this

27 For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man

And then Matthew 24:30 says this

30 “Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory

To me that sounds like everyone will see the return of Christ.

Again I don't know for sure. All I know is that the day will come. It might be in my life time, it might not. It doesn't really matter anyway. God triumphs in the end and I have faith in Him.
