LoL.

Ok, I get it, LoL.

Yes, technically the word was Magi in the Greek, and I was careful not to say there were three. :)

Man that was a long post, LoL. But yes, we are actually highly suspicious as a people. I made reference to astrology once in front of the mother of a young guy in my neighborhood I would play a little basketball with, and she looked at me like I was the Devil himself. I got a stern rebuke for it, eve though from what I could tell she had never been to a church service in half a decade, LoL.

But yeah. I think things like that are partly a symptom of having been condemned for something ourselves, so we tend to turn on others too when we are certain they have gone off the deep end morally. I have a very open mind in some ways, and I'm not always impressed with the opinions of the status quo, so I guess I'm not as susceptible to making snap judgments when it comes to things like this. I'm the same with theology. I don't care if it sounds like it's coming from outer space. If I check it out and it actually has some merit behind it scripturally, I will give it genuine thought before simply throwing out as being "unconventional" or "unorthodox."

You are right.
You said...But yeah. I think things like that are partly a symptom of having been condemned for something ourselves, so we tend to turn on others too when we are certain they have gone off the deep end morally.
Again you are right...and there was a time in history where Christianity turned on itself. At the turn of the first millennium, the Church started to blame itself for Christ not returning. And it was then they considered that He had not returned because they were too tolerant of non-Christians...and that caused some bloodshed. Actually in and out of the Church.

Best advise is not to get involved with the occult as a religion, but for the same reasons you do not want to incorporate the practices of the Israelites into your religion. Which is why I was making a comparison. Some people try to mix Judaism with Christianity but they get very selective as to what they want to recognize and pretty much ignore the rest.

As Christians our faith and trust is in the Trinity...best to keep it simple Sam. Ya know?

Ok, now don't take me as debating with you, as if I am insistent on my position or anything, but about the above quote I don't think it is talking about astrological "signs in the heavens." Diodorus Siculus wrote (and this is fully supported by statements made on Babylonian cuneiform tablets) that "the appearance of comets, eclipses of the sun and moon, and in fact every kind of change occasioned by the atmosphere, whether good or bad, both to nations and to kings and private individuals, were [in essence] omens of future events." The same can be seen in what the wise men saw who appeared to Herod to tell him a great king had been born.

Tell me, have you ever read the works on how the signs tell the story of the gospel? I'm referring to books like The Witness of the Stars by E.W. Bullinger, and the Gospel In The Stars by Joseph Seiss. It's relevant in that such books make a case that the signs of the zodiac were actually given by God to begin with, and only perverted by the nations into what we know as astrology today.

To be honest, I don't know a lot about that. I did mess around with Magi Astrology, but honestly that was about 10 years ago and I don't really see it any differently. But that is interesting! I haven't touched astrology in about four years so it's all sort of vague. I haven't read any of that recently but I might have read it before.

But even if the verse in Jeremiah doesn't fit, the one in Isaiah does... (Isaiah 47:12-15) and this is regarding the fall of Babylon, basically letting everyone know that it's witchcraft and sort of a sarcastic rebuke.

Keep on, then, with your magic spells
and with your many sorceries,
which you have labored at since childhood.
Perhaps you will succeed,
perhaps you will cause terror.
All the counsel you have received has only worn you out!
Let your astrologers come forward,
those stargazers who make predictions month by month,
let them save you from what is coming upon you.
Surely they are like stubble;
the fire will burn them up.
They cannot even save themselves
from the power of the flame.

These are not coals for warmth;
this is not a fire to sit by.
That is all they are to you—
these you have dealt with
and labored with since childhood.
All of them go on in their error;
there is not one that can save you.

Here's a fun way to do this, too.

We're going to look at a man. His sign is Sagittarius and his ascendant (which is what you actually are... if you believe in this... and I don't.. is a Leo.)

So according to astrology...

"Sagittarians are optimistic, lovers of freedom, hilarious, fair-minded, honest and intellectual. They are spontaneous and fun, usually with a lot of friends, and are perhaps the best conversationalists in the zodiac (maybe tied with Gemini)"

And also for the same guy...

"Typical sun in Leo traits include being confident, comfortable being the center of attention, drama-adoring, ambitious, loyal, fiercely protective of their nearest and dearest, generous, luxury-loving, sunny, and big-hearted."

Doesn't this guy come up as totally great? He sounds like the biggest teddy bear anyway. He is super teddy....

It's Ted Bundy.

I don't know...again I say, I don't know, if there is any sign that causes mental illnesses or demon possession or if there is a sign that accounts for that. If any of this fortune telling were accurate there would be a lot more millionaires. So don't get me wrong I am not advocating Astrology just presenting facts. Facts are not judgmental, they are not prejudice against the people that agree with them or the people that do not agree with them. It is what it is....If you feel you are warning people to stay away from it, that is not harmful advise.

What does everybody think about it? Is it good? Is it evil? I just found out tonight that you can use it to also predict your death as well as it gives you personality traits about yourself and I found that part kind of creepy myself. :/

I would stay clear of it.
Give the devil an inch and he takes a mile.

That is why in Ephesians we are told to give no place to the devil.
In the spiritual realm, a little is a whole long way.

Shalom!

I'd have to look, but at surface glance that does sound about right. I aways put zero faith in predictive astrology. It's a farce.

LoL! See, the part people don't understand is that through every soul can pour either darkness or light. Ultimately we all manifest either what we were meant to be in Christ or what we become if we give ourselves to demons instead. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, etc, and demons will instead produce the opposites: Hate, violence, fear, cruelty, etc.

But it's a deep subject, and not something I usually discuss. Just curious about your thoughts. :)

"Astrology" leans more toward witchcraft.

The modern term "Astronomy" leans more toward the Identifying the celestial things man can see.

"signs" in the Celestial Sky's are Taught in Scripture as Notice of information, seasons divisions, Time divisions, and Warnings for what to Expect was foretold, is coming into fruition.
