Hello to you and welcome to this post.

In this day in age there are many different denominations and churches out there in the world. From Jehovah Witness, Catholic, Baptist, Pentacostals. All I know that there are people whom are trying to seek to know God. To learn, what the Bible does say is a very good thing. Learning is what teaches one to know something especially know things about God and Jesus Christ, along not only with these two. However, the nation of Israel, the Holy Spirit, and even promises of God that are available to you as a believer in the Gospel of Christ which is the Life, death, burial and resurrection.

These are some of my own individual notes on this particular section of Scripture

Matthew 9:30 - 50 (Note there may be spelling mistakes and errors.)

Mar 9:30 And having gone forth there, they were passing through Galilee, and He did not wish that any may know,

Having left the scene with the Father of a child which had an unclean spirit which was cast out by the Lord, which the disciples could not cast out. The last thing they asked Jesus about was how could they not cast out the spirit, in reply He said to them it requires prayer and fasting.

By praying asking God to help, such as the unbelief of the man who brought the boy to be healed by the disciples. Also abstaining from food, in most cases, fasting can also be from our own daily activities as such to something you may end up overdoing, that it starts to effect your relationship with God. This could deal with our mind, thoughts, emotion and individual will. This will help in clearing out whatever may be clogging or stopping the pathway from you and God to have relationship together. God is love, and he is a mighty, refuge, in wisdom, and in strength a great help in times of trouble, a truly loving and giving Father.

Here in Mark 9:30 It ays having gone forth there, they were passing through Galilee, and He did not wish that any may know,

Therefore they are now left out from the scene we see with the Father with the child and they are now traveling onward through Galilee, and He did not wish any may know.

There he would teach his disciples, privately.

Mar 9:31 for He was teaching His disciples, and He said to them, “The Son of Man is being delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill Him, and having been killed the third day He will rise,”

In the private area were they could be alone, Jesus took the time to teach the disciples again for the second time. In Mark Chapter 8, Jesus talked with them about the same this very same thing. That he would be delivered over unto the hands of men, and they will kill Him, and having been killed the third day He will rise,

These were pictures and types for them, to understand their own death, burial, and resurrection in and by the Holy Spirit when it would be given in Acts 2. The disciples too would be delivered unto the hands of men, and they would kill them, they would be resurrected in believing in the Lord Jesus Christ. On the Third day, God would rise the Lord. Newness of life is given in the new Creation that is a believer, and follower, and trusting in Him.

Mar 9:32 but they were not understanding the saying, and they were afraid to question Him.

The disciples did not understand what Jesus had taught them, and they were afraid to question him.

Who Is the Greatest?

Mar 9:33 And He came to Capernaum, and being in the house, He was questioning them, “What were you reasoning in the way among yourselves?”

Then Jesus Christ and his disciples came to Capernaum, and being in the house, suggestive Peter/Simons home. While there in Peters home, He asked them “What were you reasoning in the way among yourselves?

Matthew 18:1 is in the same manner yet, it speaks about how the disciples end up asking Jesus who is the greatest in the kingdom.

Mar 9:34 And they were silent, for they reasoned with one another in the way who is greater;

After asking in Marks account they were silent, for they reasoned with one another in the way who is greater; The Disciples were humans, with different working backgrounds, on a tax gather, one a fisher, one a physician. They also had different personalities, they believed Jesus has come to be come the kingdom Jerusalem, and that they would be released from the oppression from the Romans, and the Pharisees and scribes. Jesus would be the king of the earth and they were talking among each other who would be the greatest in this kingdom they believed Jesus Christ was going to become in the earthly carnal mind. They did not really understand about the things he said when He talked about his death, burial, and resurrection either, Judas ended up selling out Christ because he did not truly desire to serve him, but instead served himself in the end he killed himself due to regret.

Mar 9:35 and having sat down He called the Twelve, and He says to them, “If any wills to be first, he will be last of all, and minister of all.”

Having sat down, He called the Twelve, and He says to them “IF any wills to be first he will be last of all and minster of all.

By the use of the word will here, you can gather from the greek word: thelō

208x: to exercise the will, properly by an unimpassioned operation; to be willing

With Thelō, means to exercise the will; to be willing. If any one wills to be first,

By the use of the word first here; you can gather from the greek word: pro'-tos

Contracted superlative of G4253; foremost (in time, place, order or importance): - before, beginning, best, chief (-est), first (of all), former.

If anyone wills to be the foremost, of first in place or order or importance, that person whoever he is, will be last of all, and minister of all.

By the use of the word minister here: you can gather from the greek work: dee-ak'-on-os

Probably from διάκω diakō (obsolete, to run on errands; compare G1377); an attendant, that is, (generally) a waiter (at table or in other menial duties); specifically a Christian teacher and pastor (technically a deacon or deaconess): - deacon, minister, servant.

Jesus is explaining to the disciples who had just recently been talking about who would be the greatest (suggestive of being and elder or mature in the faith) in the earthly sense, Jesus goes on to tell them that if anyone is willingly to be first, by their own volition, to go and run errands, and to be an attendant to the Lord Jesus Christ, a Waiter on the Lord, would be the greatest having placed themselves last, and other before themselves. Sometimes it specifically means a Christian Teacher, a deacon, minister, servant.

They must place themselves last putting God first, and being a servant to others and a minister to any persons that comes along the way. For them in that day to hear about the goods news about the death, burial, resurrection was also a warning about the coming destruction that would be fall upon Jerusalem 40 years later after his earthly ministry died and became a heavenly ministry that freed people from the law, and their bondages to sin and death (being the law).

Jesus has already warned them that they would have to take up their cross, and follow him which signified their own earthly death for the cause of the kingdom in which they would end up receiving rewards, like believing Christians do who has put in the time and effort to having love for God and love for other people, putting them first, and putting themselves last for the sake of another. Which is what the Lord Yeshua had done for the entire world, by his own violation and free will choice.

Then at the home, having sat down Jesus called the Twelve, and he says ‘ If any wills to be first, he will be last of all, and minister of all.

Mar 9:36 And having taken a child, He set him in the midst of them, and having taken him in His arms, said to them,

After explaining this to them, there was a child in the home which they were at some suggest Peter/Simons home, having taken a child, He set him in the midst of them. So he took the boy, and placed them in the middle of the disciples. Then after this, Jesus took his hands and took the boy up into his arms, and said to them,

There are several things going on here in this picture, that is before our eyes. A child is set forth in the middle of the disciples. Why is this? To show them, that a child is always in need to be taken care of by and adult. They need their Father and Mother to provide for them so that they will be healthy and well taken care of. A child can also be symbolic of how they are always curious, questioning, needing help, getting in to trouble and of course depending the Father, who is our real Father, the Father of Jesus Christ.

With Jesus showing this by setting the boy in the middle of them, he then took the boy and took him in his arms, showing attachment. That attachment is needed to have life that is eternal, being part in attachment to the one who gives light and life. Joh 1:4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men,

Mar 9:37 “Whoever may receive one of such children in My Name, receives Me, and whoever may receive Me, does not receive Me, but Him who sent Me.”
Mar 9:38 And John answered Him, saying, “Teacher, we saw a certain one casting out demons in Your Name, who does not follow us, and we forbade him, because he does not follow us.”

With this showing of becoming humble, making themselves last and God first and others before themselves, as a child, who is a servant of all.

John goes on to say to Jesus “We saw a certain one casting out demons in your name, who does not follow us, and we forbade him,

With this word forbade in the greek it means: kōlyō ko-loo'-o 23x: to hinder, restrain, prevent,

Therefore John and the disciples saw a person who was casting out demons in Jesus name, but they hindered, or prevented the person from doing so. Was John feeling guilty about what He had done and desired to confess it before the Christ? Either way John was being honest the he told Jesus the truth about what John and the others had done by stopping the person from casting out demons in the name of Jesus.

The reason why they did this, was become he did not follow as one of the Apostles. So they had stopped the person from preaching Jesus name. Interesting right?

Does Jesus start scourging the child who have yet to have the Holy Spirit yet? Did he reprimand them for having stopped the person who was preaching in Christ name to cast out demons?

No, he, gently corrects them.

Mar 9:39 And Jesus said, “Do not forbid him, for there is no one who will do a mighty work in My Name, and will be readily able to speak evil of Me:

Jesus gently corrects them by saying Do not forbid him, for there is no one who will do a mighty work - dynamis dynamis,119x: power; strength, ability, / a mighty wonderful work, in the name of Jesus; and will be readily able takh-oo'

Neuter singular of G5036 (as adverb); shortly, that is, without delay, soon, or (by surprise) suddenly, or (by implication of ease) readily: - lightly, quickly.

Jesus explains to them openly and honestly that they should not forbid the person. Why? Because there is not one who will go without going through and doing a mighty work, who does so in the name of Jesus, and will be so soon to start speaking evil kakologeō

4x: to speak evil of, revile, abuse, insult, Mar 9:39; Act 19:9; to address with offensive language, to treat with disrespect, Mat 15:4; Mar 7:10.

Therefore Jesus gives the okay to allow people to teach and preach in his name, no matter who they, and in that day they were able to cast out demons, before the doing away with Satan and his Demons after the return of the Lord Jesus Christ to the bride of that church in that age, that frees all people from bondage of sin, and death, satan and his demons, darkness, and your life becomes change not only with-in yourself but for you going and serving others, being a minister to all people as you are given the chance to do so knowing that you are attached with the Lord Jesus Christ as you go along this life. He is teaching his disciples the things, and says to them, if someone else doing something in my name, they will not be quick to start speaking evil of the Lord because of how much good - he by being attached to them, and them being attached to he - Jesus produces fruit through you the believer as you have the Holy Spirit, and the spirit of Christ in to your heart.

No one would be quick to turn away Christ if they had tasted the goodness of God. Though that does not leave the door closed from making the free-will choice to do such. (Satan and his demons, were going to be plundered in Matthew Chapter 12, and Luke 11 according to Jesus). Darkness still exists and it a temptation in itself, along with the individual temptations all people have. Jesus himself suffered in his flesh of his own temptations, just as we have been through, and he can sympathize with our suffering, that can be trauma, past heartbreaks, past parental problems, past childhood trauma, having been healing so many people of diseases, sickness, deaf, blind, mute.

Mar 9:40 for he who is not against us is for us;

Jesus goes on to say for he who is not against us is for us;

Thus Jesus has stated himself. He who is not against us is for us.

Whoever is not against Christ; His life, burial, and resurrection is for us.

There were enemies of the cross going to show up.

Mar 9:41 for whoever may give you to drink a cup of water in My Name, because you are Christ’s, truly I say to you, he may not lose his reward;

Jess goes on to say whoever may give to drink a cup of water ,

With the use of to give a drink a cup of water: the greek word is pot-id'-zo

From a derivative of the alternate of G4095; to furnish drink, irrigate: - give (make) to drink, feed, water.

Anyone who feed another in the wisdom of God, and of the wisdom of the Son of God to another person, in the name of Jesus Christ,

Because of you being attached to Christ Jesus - truly I say to you those who feed others in the name of the Lord by serving him, that he may not lose his reward.

With the use of reward: the greek word is mis-thos'

Apparently a primary word; pay for service (literally or figuratively), good or bad: - hire, reward, wages.

Mar 9:42 and whoever may cause to stumble one of the little ones believing in Me, better is it for him if a millstone is hanged around his neck, and he has been cast into the sea.

The Messiah continues his teaching, going forward to say ‘ whoever may cause to stumble one of the little ones believing in Me, better is it for him if a millstone is hanged around his neck, and he has been cast into the sea.

Jesus makes a stern warning that if anyone causes someone who is believing in Him to stumble, it would be better for them if they had a millstone is hanged around his neck, and he has been cast into the sea. This seems to remind me of a reference of when Jonah was on the boat with the gentile fishermen, on the run from the Lord; and troubles had come up for the fishermen also Jonah in the seas which God has sent a storm Jonahs way, and the Fishermans prayed to the LORD, then cast lots and ended up finding out that Jonah was indeed running away from the Lord, and he told the people in the boat to toss him over and he was swallowed up by a huge fish, having been tossed in the sea.

You can see that the more you run from God the more you are drawing away from him, than having him close by in attachment like the child was demonstrated by Jesus to the disciples. That if one falls away from grace, or falls away from the faith, anyone who ends up causing a person to stumble it would be better for the person to have a millstone and be casted out in the sea. Perhaps for the washing away of sins? I am not sure, which may lead to them to come back to draw near to God rather than continuing to run away from him.

In the Bible throughout the context you can find scripture that deals with what Jesus is saying above,

Rom 14:13 therefore, may we judge one another no longer, but rather judge this, not to put a stumbling-stone before the brother, or an offense.

In the Letter to the Romans written by Paul he addresses the saints there in Rome, that because of the freedom the is founded in Christ as believers we are to accept those who may be weak in faith, to be in one mind with them about faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and sharing information in grace and truth in the spirit of the Lord, to not cause judgement upon another person. Judgement in this context is to judge, to assume censorial power over, to call to account. To assume censorial power over; or to call to account for what someone may do in what is right in their own mind to do.

As believers you can share with people what you do know about the Bible, but if the person has their own way and set belief of handling certain things who may be weak in the faith we are to accept them as they are in where they are at in their walk and understanding about God, the Lord Jesus Christ and seek to encourage and uplift a brother or sister rather than to cast them down, or cause them to be offended or to stir up strives with others about quibbled minor things about certain doctrinal beliefs. Anyone who was causing others to fall, and to be crushed or causing offense to another believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, in which if you are doing something like this it is good to look at yourself and judge oneself rather than other people.

This type of judgement would end up coming upon his apostle for preaching and teaching in the name of Christ, which was mentioned about earlier. When John had forbade the person who was casting out demons in the name of Christ. The Synagogue rulers and high councils would end up being persecutive towards the 12 Apostles. Save the death of Judas who killed himself due to guilt of selling out the innocent lamb.

Mar 9:43 And if your hand may cause you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter into life maimed, than having the two hands, to go away into Gehenna, into the fire—the unquenchable—

Jesus goes on to say if your hand may cause you to stumble;

Lets look and see what the word stumble means in this context: the greek word for stumble is skan-dal-id'-zo

To “scandalize”; from G4625; to entrap, that is, trip up (figuratively stumble [transitively] or entice to sin, apostasy or displeasure): - (make to) offend.

So if your hand starts to entrap another, trip yourself up, to go into unbelief, or to entice others to sin: such has hate, be greedy, to seek revenged - and offend another. Cut it off, which is to say put whatever is causing you to do such things, cut it off. Jesus is using a representative with the saying ‘hand’, that meaning the flesh - to cut that off, and seek after the spiritual things, that cause peace, kindness, forbearance, goodness, faithful, being truthful towards other, not lying to one another. For it is better for you to enter into life, spiritual life, maimed, having some of the fleshly side cut off, and live by the spiritual way taught by the Lord. Than having the two hands to cause offense and point fingers at others, to go away to Gehenna, - Gehenna was in the valley of Hinnon, that was used to throw refuge and garbage, including dead bodies into the fire, that continually was going on in this valley that was not to far away from Jerusalem.

This would also be Christ judgement towards Jerusalem in Revelation you can find this scripture:

Revelation 6:9-10 (LSV)

9 And when He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those slain because of the word of God, and because of the testimony that they held,

10 and they were crying with a great voice, saying, “Until when, O Master, the Holy and the True, do You not judge and take vengeance of our blood from those dwelling on the earth?”

Revelation 16:6 because they poured out [the] blood of holy ones and prophets, and You gave to them blood to drink, for they are worthy”;

7 and I heard another out of the altar, saying, “Yes, LORD God, the Almighty, true and righteous [are] Your judgments.”

Mar 9:44 where their worm is not dying, and the fire is not being quenched.

Mar 9:45 And if your foot may cause you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter into life lame, than having the two feet to be cast into Gehenna, into the fire—the unquenchable—

Mar 9:47 And if your eye may cause you to stumble, cast it out; it is better for you to enter into the Kingdom of God one-eyed, than having two eyes, to be cast into the Gehenna of fire—

Again Jesus speaks in the same manner, that if someone who is a foot, or an eye, or hands - as the body of Christ Jesus being the bridegroom of Christ that Jesus was going to return to and redeem from the their tribulations and trials they were going through being heavily persecuted and that countless of Christians were killed and slaughtered, even under the reign of Nero Czesar, and that Jesus is again making a judgment statement against Jerusalem, and the Nation of Israel that gives over the Lord to be crucified, that judgement would come down upon them for doing such a crime, against the true and living God. It would be better to having a single eye towards faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, who would end up dying, being buried, and being resurrected than to follow or trust in anything else that anyone else may have said from the Gospel of Christ, that would end up being preached among all the world in that day and age, concluded by Paul.

Mar 9:48 where their worm is not dying, and the fire is not being quenched;

Their worm (ho skōlēx autōn). “The worm, i.e. that preys upon the inhabitants of this dread realm” (Gould). Two bold figures of Gehenna combined (the gnawing worm, the burning flame). No figures of Gehenna can equal the dread reality which is here described.

Mar 9:49 for everyone will be salted with fire, and every sacrifice will be salted with salt.

Lets look at some information about Salt: Common salt is considered by most authorities as an essential ingredient of our food. Most people intentionally season their cooking with more or less salt for the sake of palatability. Others depend upon the small quantities which naturally exist in water and many foods to furnish the necessary amount of salt for the body. Either too much salt or the lack of it creates undesirable disturbance in the animal system. Men and animals alike instinctively seek for this substance to supplement or improve their regular diet. The ancients appreciated the value of salt for seasoning food (Job 6:6). So necessary was it that they dignified it by making it a requisite part of sacrifices (Lev 2:13; Ezr 6:9; Ezr 7:22; Eze 43:24; Mar 9:49). In Num 18:19; 2Ch 13:5, a “covenant of salt” is mentioned (compare Mar 9:49). This custom of pledging friendship or confirming a compact by eating food containing salt is still retained among Arabic-speaking people. The Arabic word for “salt” and for a “compact” or “treaty” is the same. Doughty in his travels in Arabia appealed more than once to the superstitious belief of the Arabs in the “salt covenant,” to save his life. Once an Arab has received in his tent even his worst enemy and has eaten salt (food) with him, he is bound to protect his guest as long as he remains. See COVENANT OF SALT.

For everyone will be salted with fire; what does this mean? I do not know.

And every sacrifice will be salted with salt.

In the Old Testament the Jewish people had to do certain things to their offerings:

Lev 2:12 An offering of first-[fruits]—you bring them near to YHWH, but they do not go up on the altar for refreshing fragrance.

Lev 2:13 And every offering—your present—you season with salt, and you do not let the salt of the covenant of your God cease from your present; you bring salt near with all your offerings.

There is a scripture written in Colossians 4:6 (LSV)

6 your word always being seasoned with salt in grace—to know how it is necessary for you to answer each one.

Giving praise to our Father, and praise to the Lord Jesus Christ in thankfulness is like pure salt, that has been seasoned with and in grace from God who has allowed a Christian believer to be born again, and they themselves are by Jesus baptized in the Holy Spirit and fire. A fire can burn down, and make the darkness light the surround area. Fire, that people are salted with could be with if they had built wood, hay, stumble on the foundation of Christ, and whatever is burned up, the soul shall be saved as by through fire, could be a reference here. The Jewish people, and those of the nation of Israel, had their own zeal for God but not according to knowledge. You had Jewish people who were trying to get gentiles to become under the law, instead of being firmly stood on the foundation of Christ. To glory in themselves rather than glorying in the Lord Jesus Christ. These are just some of my thoughts on the matter.

Mar 9:50 The salt [is] good, but if the salt may become saltless, in what will you season [it]? Have in yourselves salt, and have peace in one another.”

The salt [is] good, but if that salt may be become saltiness in which will you season [it]? Have in yourselves salt, and have peace with one another.

Again here Salt is good: A custom of pledging friend ship or confirming a compact by eating food containing salt is still retained among Arabic-speaking people. The Arabic word for salt and for a compact or treaty is the same. If everyone is will be salted with fire, could this be a part of the sanctification process of being washed in the Word, and about those who walk according to the spirit. The fire can be seen again as a purification process of burning away darkness that is conveyed with-in the soul in now having a relationship with God in and through the Lord Jesus Christ, in which you are attached upon and to the Lord by and through faith in complete trust in his finished works on the cross, and his death, burial and resurrection. If the salt has become saltless, how can someone use this salt for any thing good? This salt should be tossed out and brought in new salt. Having friendship, and dependency on Jesus who is the one who makes us right with God by faith, that those who stay connect and attached by abiding in the vine of Christ, it is good to have peace with one another. To not cause division, though sticking to grace and truth that is founded in the Lord, as the apostles, the disciples of Christ would go through persecutions in that day in Age, and Jesus is in fact judging against the nation of Israel, and Jerusalem that had its last chance to turn back to God, yet decided to crucify the Lord upon the cross who had done nothing wrong, guiltless, lamb slain for the final sacrifice for the sin of all people.

Wouldn't it be great Matt if people of all faiths could have everlasting life? Many people believe this is true, but sadly the Bible seems to promote that all must accept the faith the Bible identifies as belonging to God. But at least the Bible identifies the path beyond any doubt so that honest hearted ones can recognize the people of God and go with them Zech 8:23

As a Christian eternal life is found in knowing who Jesus is, and who God is.

John 17:3 -

I’m Christian. Nothing else not Jehovah witness, not Catholic, not pentacostle, not Baptist, or any other denomination, I find myself leaning to Christian anarchist, with Christ as the head of my own faith which is between me and my Father in heaven.

Thank you Robert. As I realize there are many denominations that people attend and I’m simply seeking for truth, sir.
