Jesus Forgives and Heals a Paralyzed Man

9 Jesus stepped into a boat, crossed over and came to his own town. 2 Some men brought to him a paralyzed man, lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man, “Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven.”

3 At this, some of the teachers of the law said to themselves, “This fellow is blaspheming!”

4 Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, “Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts? 5 Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? 6 But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the paralyzed man, “Get up, take your mat and go home.” 7 Then the man got up and went home. 8 When the crowd saw this, they were filled with awe; and they praised God, who had given such authority to man.

Does anyone have any insights on these passages? Thank you ahead of time for taking the time to share.

The people praised God, not the man who was given the authority.

Did they do well?

The last sentence Matt, because of the event that happened before their eyes, they praised Jehovah, the one who had given such authority to Jesus. Yes we Christians still praise Jehovah for all that He has done sir. We pray for His Kingdom to come, and promote it as the only solution to mankinds problems. The Bible most accurately says Praise Jah you people. How we look forward to the fulfillment of this passage sir: (Psalm 104:35) . . .The sinners will be finished off from the earth; And as for the wicked, they will be no longer. Bless Jehovah, O my soul. Praise Jah, YOU people!

Do you consider that good news Matt?

Hello @Robert Gwin you have your own view about how you see things and that is subjective to you as an individual person. Thank you for taking time to share your comment with others on the board, though I don’t have any honest inclination of answering your question sir.

May the grace and peace of God be with you.
