Take 1 small cube. It is 1 cube and it has 6 faces. 1 - 6

Now build the next size cube possible using those little cubes
That would be a 2x2x2 cube so 8 little cubes in total and 24 faces. 8 - 24

Now the next sized cube
That would be 3x3x3 so 27 little cubes in total and 54 faces. 27 - 54

Keep going

4x4x4 cube has 64 cubes and 96 faces

5x5x5 cube has 125 cubes and 150 faces

Then you get to the 6x6x6 cube
It has a total of 216 little cubes and oh look . . . 216 faces. 216 - 216

The 6x6x6 cube is the only cube that has THE SAME number of little cubes as it's number of faces. Hmmmm.

I'm guessing you know about the star of David shape and the 37 x 73 triangles.
