Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
Cleansing the flesh plainly doesn't mean cleansing it of a sin nature or spirit, since there is no such thing in mortal flesh and bones and sinews and blood.
Also, if there were such a thing, then the sin spirit idolizers would need admit it not only can be cleansed from our flesh by us, but must be in order to be justified by Christ.
Therefore, we are commanded to sanctify ourselves by the power of Christ to purify our spirit and mind within, that we may thus purify our lives in the flesh.
Our spirit and flesh are thus to be continually cleansed of unrighteous thought, that we may be clean of unrighteous words and deeds.
Let us be cleaning our spirit and flesh from all sinful thought for unrighteousness with the flesh.
This is the spiritual warfare in the mind, that brings victory to the flesh. So long as we are cleansing our spirit of unrighteous imagination, then our heart remains pure within, and our lives in mortal bodies remain clean.
This our obedient part and fight and race in being justified by Christ to obtain His enteral salvation in the end.
And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him.
Those not now resisting the devil's temptations to receive corrupting lust into the heart, are transgressing the law of Christ and found filthy naked with shame at His coming.
