18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. - Colossians 1:15-18.
The reason we go through what we go through in this world - because we are coming to know! We feel.. we think we have a handle in this God business. His business in creation is to conform us into the image and likeness of his Son. The Son in you.
18 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. - Romans 8:17-18,28-29.
