So if our government is made up of we the people,
does that mean none of the people are the church?

I presume you’re speaking about the US government. The US government is not the church.

Let’s go back to the 1st century. Paul was writing during the reign of Nero. The government is the Roman Empire.

Let’s put your question to Paul —> So if our government is made up of we the people, does that mean none of the people are the church?

Would Paul say that the Roman Empire is the church?

He fails to grasp Venn diagrams and Odoro Amoris.

@Ziggy he is lying to you about me. You should also know that he believes that Jesus lied.

We have multiple responsibilities - not just fealty to one thing. When Christ said to "love your enemies," he was talking about at the personal level.

The personal life encompasses every area and aspect of a person’s life.

Christ was NOT commanding we act treasonously to the civil authorities.

That’s right. If you were living in China, for example, Jesus commands you not to act treasonously to the civil authorities.

Therefore, "we" are the church and "we" are the government and "we" are the family and "we" are the neighbor, and "we" are the son and "we" are the father" and "we" are the brother, etc. There is more than one relational role we are obligated to perform.

The Chinese government would like a word.

In medieval Iberia, the Christian man had three options for himself and his family.

1- Convert to Islam

2 - Allow himself and his sons to be tortured and killed and allow his wife and daughters to be raped and enslaved

3 - Defend his homeland against Muslim invasion

Luckily, the brave men of Iberia Defended against Muslim invasion and were victorious. I am forever greatful to them

VIVA A RECONQUISTA

Medieval or modern era, the Christian man and his family have two options:

Option 1. Follow the teaching and example of Jesus and the apostles.

Option 2. Don’t follow the teaching and example of Jesus and the apostles.

Your ancestors didn’t treat their enemies the way Jesus and the apostles teach followers of Jesus to treat our enemies.

I too had ancestors who killed Muslims, Jews and Christians, to mention only those three categories of people.

I’m proud of my ancestors who treated their enemies in accordance with the teaching and example of Jesus and the apostles, not of my ancestors who didn’t.

Exactly! Flip tables over. Whip at people. Buy a sword. Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s. Then smite evil out of existence (top priority upon 2nd Coming + Lake of Fire). The teachings and example of Jesus.

That’s a good start, but it didn’t take you long to go wrong.

Flip tables over. Whip at people. Buy a sword. Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s. Then smite evil out of existence (top priority upon 2nd Coming + Lake of Fire). The teachings and example of Jesus.

Jesus didn’t kill anyone. The apostles didn’t kill anyone. They loved their enemies; they didn't wound or kill them.

We do not use the weapons of the world.

Hold firmly on to that. When you do you will return to the teaching and example of Jesus and the apostles.

”You are not following Jesus if you aren’t armed, ready to kill” isn’t the teaching and example of Jesus and the apostles. It‘s a doctrine of demons.

Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s.

How well do you know early church history?

The Caesar in Paul’s day was Nero. You would kill for Nero. You would kill Christians, Jews and pagans for Nero.

Paul and the followers of Jesus wouldn’t and didn’t.

What is Caesar’s? Give it to him.

P.S.

Paul did. The early Christians did. I do, and I teach others to do it too.

Don’t give to Caesar what Jesus and the apostles would not have us give to Caesar.

Christ was NOT commanding we act treasonously to the civil authorities.

You’re no longer a Chinese Christian, living in Communist China.

It’s August, 1775. The Caesar of the day is accusing someone in his realm of acting treacherously.

You’re there. You’re a British citizen residing in the North American colonies of Great Britain. Is King George III and his government, your government, formally charging you? He is if you’re siding with the rebels.

“Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s,” you say.

“You are not following Jesus if you aren’t armed, ready to kill,” you teach.

You’re going to kill. Who are you going to kill? Will it be the Christians who remained loyal to Caesar or will it be Christians who rebelled against Caesar?

Christians killing Christians.

You’re perfectly fine with that. You think Jesus is pleased with his followers killing one another.

Your objection is to non-Christians killing Christians, not to Christians killing Christians.

We can't go back.
That world is gone.
We are in new Day.
And the Kingdom of God is within you,
That means that God has put his Spirit upon those who follow Him.
And if He goes into battle, I'm going with him.
Amen.

I bet if they coulda they woulda
You bet that Christian martyrs would have used weapons to kill their attackers, if they could have?

You might want to study the history of Christian martyrs and why they refused to arm themselves for fleshly combat. Fox’s Book of Martyrs is a good resource.

They refused to disobey the pacifist teachings of Jesus. They could have used a sword or other weapon if they wanted to. What prevented that was their holy preference to die as a martyr rather than kill as a warrior.

They were being hunted by the military and the Temple keepers.
The Romans didn't like the Jews and the High Priests and company didn't like the newly converted freemen.
What I mean by freemen, is they were not slaves to the system any longer.
Did it come at a price?
Sure did. Just like in America, both slaves and Free men died to save them from the slaveowners.

Should we have just let slavery continue to save ourselves?

God Bless America!

The apostles have a king. I have a king. No matter where I might live in the world, my allegiance is to that king.

The fool has said in his or her heart, “There is no God”.”

I believe that. If I had to guess I would guess that you believe it too.

I also believe it’s a fool who says in his or her heart, “Jesus obviously lied.”

I don’t know if you believe that or not.

My advice: Don’t follow fools.

You are not following Jesus if you aren’t armed, ready to kill.

That’s the teaching of the one who is teaching “Jesus obviously lied.”

If you aren’t grieved by that, why aren’t you?

If we’re following Jesus and the apostles, then we’re teaching what they taught and doing as they did.
