“Desperate”

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
When we think of desperate, a lot of thoughts and images probably come to mind. We might become desperate to get a second opinion from a doctor who knows more answers. We might become desperate to find water if we are lost on a very hot day. We might become desperate to find a gas station if we are running our vehicle on fumes in the middle of nowhere. We also might become desperate to prove to someone that we are innocent if we are accused of a crime.
There are so many different situations in life in which we could become desperate for something. We have all been there in one way or another. We have felt that desperate longing for something we felt we truly needed and could not live without.
As we have approached and begun this New Year, I want to know how many of you a truly desperate for the life that only Jesus Christ can give? We may share with others that we are desperate to know Him. We may go to church every Sunday and listen to Christian music all day long, but if we are not digging into His Word every day and longing for Him with a sincere desire to grow, we will not go far.
I want this year to be a year in which I pursue God and become more desperate for Him than I ever have before! Do you want that in your life? Do you and I hunger and thirst for Him? Do we long to be filled with the true life that only He can give? Are you and I totally desperate for Him? Do we long for Him with everything we have?
As this new year progresses, I need to consider what I show desperation for. What do I show desperation for in my life? What am I longing to do more than anything else? What means more to me than anything else? The answer to all these questions should be pursuing God with all my being. Your answer should also be the same. However…..is it???
What are you desperate for this year? What do you want to dedicate your life to? What has become most important to you? Nothing should make us more desperate than to know Jesus Christ more personally than we every have before. We should all be desperate. Desperate for Him and longing for Him like we never have before.
