John 1:29 KJV
The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
Did Jesus take away the sin of the world? What does that mean?
Much love!
Did Jesus take away the sin of the world?
Yes. But not the way the world wishes.
Not by sweeping sin under the rug.
Not by universal forgiveness apart from faith.
Not by pretending evil doesn’t matter.
Jesus took away sin by bearing it, becoming it, and crushing it on the Cross.
> “He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.” — 2 Cor 5:21
“Without shedding of blood there is no remission.” — Heb 9:22
“The LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” — Isaiah 53:6
But here’s the truth that cuts:
Sin has been atoned, but it has not been abolished.
The penalty is paid, but the personal application requires repentance and faith.
> “Behold, the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sin of the world”
...is an invitation, not a universal pardon.
Jesus offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice.
But only those who receive Him—who repent, believe, and follow—are washed clean.
> “He appeared once for all to remove sin by the sacrifice of Himself.” — Heb 9:26
“To as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God.” — John 1:12
So no—He didn’t erase sin for all mankind automatically.
He opened the door.
He bore the wrath.
He became the Lamb.
But every man must come to the Cross for that sin to be taken from them.
Otherwise, they still bear it.
> “If ye believe not that I am He, ye shall die in your sins.” — John 8:24
Much love?
Yes.
Much truth?
Even more.
