One can come to know God only by letting God teach him or her.

(1 Corinthians 2:10-14) “These are the very things that God has revealed to us through the Spirit, for the Spirit reaches the depts. Of everything, even the depths of God. After all, the depths of a man can only be known by his own spirit, not by any other man, and in the same way the depths of God can only be known by the Spirit of God. Now instead of the spirit of the world, we have received the Spirit that comes from God, to teach us to understand the gifts that he has given us.

(1 John 2:27) “But you have not lost the anointing that he gave you, and you do not need anyone to teach you, the anointing he gave teaches you everything; you are anointed with truth, not a lie, and as it has taught you, so you must stay in him.”

God is the perfect teacher. Man is not the perfect student. When man teaches about God he is teaching what is not perfect. Learning to know God from man cannot be done. One can only learn about God, and can’t come to know God by listening or studding about God from man.

If one studies about God from a man or group of men, all they are learning is what that man or group of men understood. One has no assurance that what those people understood was or is correct.

People receive degrees in theology, and then believe he or she may believe they know God. When all they have is other people’s understanding about God, twisted by what he or she understands or didn’t understand. So it becomes the blind leading the blind.
