@Eternally Grateful Did you read the full context of my reply to Angelina? I do fully agree with you, and Angelina, that the full price has been paid. We are looked upon by God now as if we had never sinned. All is forgiven. And yes, all that took place on the cross at Calvary. And I, for 50 years, have never felt the necessity to add works or obedience or anything else to the formula. It is already complete and sufficient, just as it was for Israel when they killed the first Passover Lamb and gained their escape from bondage to Egypt. We have now escaped our bondage to sin. So. Where does that leave us? Where to from here? Was Calvary truly the end of the redemption story? What happened to the blood of the lamb? What happened to the blood of the lamb throughout the following 1500 years when Israel was worshipping before the tabernacle? Isaiah 1 described it as iniquitous at one time. The Lord was disgusted with the constant killing, the constant ritualistic process that saw calves and lambs and heifers and doves etc become nothing more than "get out of jail free" cards grazing in the back paddock. Is the church treating the sacrifice of the Son of God with any more honor, respect, and gratitude than did Israel in the time of Ahab? Do you think that believing in Christ's sacrifice and accepting Calvary for your personal salvation is really the end of the story? I'm not trying to add anything more to what Christ has accomplished, that would be dumb. But what about you? What has been your response to God for the marvellous love, mercy and grace extended toward you? Dancing at so called Christian rock shows on Sunday mornings? Celebrating your freedom by continuing to do what you've always done, only now blessed and baptised? Consider this...
“Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. ”
James 2:19 KJV
“22 And he went through the cities and villages, teaching, and journeying toward Jerusalem. 23 Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, 24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. 25 When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are: 26 Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. 27 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. 28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out. 29 And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God. 30 And, behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last. ”
Luke 13:22-30
“12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. 13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. 15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. 21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. 24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. ”

The first covenant was broken through disobedience by Israel. As hard as they tried, they failed. God sent prophets and even His own Son, but Israel killed them all. They wanted to do things their own way. The sacrifices and temple services had become a ritualistic meaningless facade to cover gross hypocrisy and apostasy. But God's promises are sure, even though ours are like ropes of sand. Casting aside the poor ineffectual promises of man, God instituted a new covenant that excluded completely man's works, and made it clear that obedience is not only possible through His strength, for without Him nothing is impossible, and without Him we can do nothing, but also that obedience to His commandments does still affect our ultimate destiny, as Revelation is abundantly clear that those who do not obey His commandments are outside the gates of the kingdom.
Yes. The fault was in their promise to obey Him in everything. God didn't ask them to promise anything. It's all by faith... Even then.
The choice isn't between law and grace. It's between obedience or sin. Between righteousness or unrighteousness. Good and evil. How must I live? Then the choice is in how do I obey? Can I live a sanctified holy committed consecrated life in which I am truly loving God with all my heart, soul, mind and body, and loving my neighbor as myself? Can I? And the answer is a resounding yes! Because that is why Jesus came... To save the people from their sins. The question is how?
And the answer is through being fully converted, fully surrendered, having the mind of Christ and being sanctified by truth. We are predestined to become the image of Christ. That's our destiny, and it's available now. To live in full compliance and obedience to all God's commandments.
Who in Christianity comes under fire the most? Those who proclaim righteousness, or those who proclaim it doesn't matter?
KJV Revelation 12
17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
