Everybody missed the cultural reference! Oh well. Totally forgettable group. Maybe our resident musician will recognize it.
Seen and noted. Good one.
The point was that we seem to be seeing a de-evolution of cognitive ability in Christianity.
Everything has been dumbed-down to a set of "inerrant" apologetics.

Reading the Bible, of itself, doesn't make anyone stupid. Reading from the flesh profits nothing. Reading with the Holy Spirit's help can make a person wise unto salvation.

" . . . and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus." 2 Timothy 3:15

Good post, thanks.
What were the "Holy Scriptures" when Timothy was a child?

Does reading the Bible make people stupid?

I think stupid people who read the Bible get stupider if they insist on transposing their stupid paradigm onto the Bible.

I think you nailed it. Thanks.

The church caters to people that need canned answers.
Those who refuse to think for themselves.

But it can also instill a narrow view of everything.

On one of your other nonsense Threads, you posted that you "read the bible every day".

And when i read that, i almost laughed outloud.

So, in that case.......did your bible reading "make you stupid", @St. SteVen ?

Care to follow up?

Also....I wonder who "Installed Universalism" into your mind?
It certainly was not a "christian" person who believed the bible or had any use for it.......

Now to your Thread's question..

The word of God, is where God's wisdom is found, so learning this makes you more like Him, and He's not stupid.

No one is saved by doctrine. (only God can save)

Reader,
Notice carefully this word......."Believe", as found in the following verse.

And you have to do this before you die, as you can't be born again in Hell..
-

King James Bible
For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of Preaching to save them that BELIEVE.

New King James Version
For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message Preached to save those who BELIEVE.

New American Standard Bible
For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who BELIEVE.

NASB 1995
For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message Preached to save those who BELIEVE.

NASB 1977
For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who BELIEVE.

Legacy Standard Bible
For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased, through the foolishness of the message preached, to save those who BELIEVE.

Amplified Bible
For since the world through all its [earthly] wisdom failed to recognize God, God in His wisdom was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message Preached [regarding salvation] to save those who BELIEVE [in Christ and welcome Him as Savior].

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And what IS that Message Preached?

Its Paul's Gospel......or "the Preaching OF THE Cross".

"Jesus died for your sins, and rose again".

"all who believe in Jesus shall be saved".
