What if a prophet charger you money for a word? Are they still prophet? I remember going on websites to pay $5-$40 word but I just realized something is wrong with that that. Why will a real Prophet charger for the word? I feel like failed God by going on websites etc.

I paid for a prophecy about my life online which it cost $40. I did out of vulnerability at the time and now I regret it. They were accurate, but I don't think it was from God. I don't think God will tell a real prophet to go online to give a word in exchange for money.

You are right to be concerned.

And so as not to tempt others I've deleted some details.

Balaam was a "real" prophet that was hired by Balak to "curse" Israel, but instead ended up blessing Israel to Balak's anger and dismay. However scripture tells us that Balaam advised Balak how to cause the judgment of the tribes of Israel by tempting them with sexual sin. Balaam, though a prophet, is condemned by scripture and died by the sword.

Jeremiah 14:14 (KJV) Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.

Lamentations 2:14 (KJV) Thy prophets have seen vain and foolish things for thee: and they have not discovered thine iniquity, to turn away thy captivity; but have seen for thee false burdens and causes of banishment.

Matthew 7:15 (KJV) Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

Matthew 24:11 (KJV) And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

Matthew 24:24 (KJV) For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Mark 13:22 (KJV) For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.

2 Peter 2:1 (KJV) But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

1 John 4:1 (KJV) Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

Jude 11 (KJV) Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.

Prophets do not charge for passing on Gods message. Perhaps you were dealing with a clairvoyant which is not the same thing at all. Jesus said:

Matthew 10:8
Freely you have received; freely give.

Anybody that demands money for a prophecy is a fraud. I feel sorry that you have been duped by such people.

Correct, true prophets don't charge but YouTube is full of false prophets...and they will beg for money.

I wouldn't expect a prophet to call himself a prophet.

I realise this is an off shoot subject, but what about the countless people who sell books about what God has revealed to them. Look at all the books that are sold on the testimonies of people………..or all the books that are ‘ help ‘ books…

I have often wondered where the line needs to be drawn as there are just some things that should be shared for free ………and yet you have to cover the costs of publishing ect ( or should that part be an act of faith for provision )
Years ago when I use to watch the Christian channels I always felt uncomfortable when they would promote the sermons and have them for sale at the end of the program.
I have loads of Christian books, but do wonder now if that side of things has become so commercialised that it just plays into materialism ………

Man in his self interest will exploit even the gift of God covering his covetous intentions with pious rational.

There is so little faith that God will provide.... pressed down, shaken together and overflowing. He raises the dead with a word yet we falter at the promise of gain or the threat of loss.

We have great need to consider more seriously those who have trod the road before us.....men like Daniel and his three friends or Joseph. We have need of much patience with waiting on the Lord. He will and does deliver in ways men cannot fathom.

I remember many years ago listening to a sermon from one of the local churches. It was a ‘ giving day ‘. I had not noticed before how the whole service was prompting and leading on an emotional level to give. I think it was this service that prompted me to consider ‘ where is their faith ‘ . The money was needed to support the work with the homeless in the town ( a great cause ) but what if they just prayed, encouraged others to pray, and then just see what happens naturally with giving each week.
Not looking at them without questioning my own faith with certain things x
