The idea of "sola scriptura" is a Protestant tenant. I'm not a Protestant nor a JW (whom likewise proclaim sola scriptura).
Sorry. It's the Bible truth. I'm not saying everyone that believes false tradition is unsaved, so long as it doesn't ruin our confession of Jesus as Lord and God, nor lead to ungodly living.
JW's are the same as you. They have their own testament written for themselves. They just don't put it on their book's cover. At least you're honest about it. They try to call it another translation only. JW's sneak into houses to proselytize with their own gospel. Mormons are much more up front about it.

Where you err is in the fact that Babylon the Great, the apostate system you speak of, is a global enterprise. You are keeping it local. Spiritual Israel, the true church, is global. Babylon, the spiritual apostate Christian entity, is also global. Also, the consensus with very few exceptions among the reformers, was that the Catholic system was Antichrist, not any individual Pope.
Here's the problem, everyone is guessing, when God never leaves us clueless, especially in these last days, if we will put down our own ideas and pick up God's true meanings which are always in the scriptures, we just have to wrestle with Gd to get the answers, via much study and prayers. Sadly, all too many pick this bunk about the RCC or the Islamic Anti-Christ, or a REAL Babylon being rebuilt, when the bible says it will b e a dead city forever more. TBH, this is so east when we just let God tell us who Babylon the Great is. Also, NOTICE: every time Babylon has fallen is mentioned it jibes with the same time that Satan gets locked into the bottomless pit. Now, here goes, one verse, plus another backing it up tells us who God Almighty says Babylon is, nit Ron, not Don, not "Lonnie the Loon" from outer space (Smile).
I have no problem with personal inspiration and revelation of God, so long as the Bible then supports it by the same One that wrote it. We Christians can get personally inspired by God and we are free to do whatever we want with it, but if we're going to teach it, then I ask where does the Bible say that.
The only thing the Bible says at the same time as Satan locked up is the first resurrection of the saints and ruling with the Lord over the nations.
I agree with your rejection of guess work and just take the words of the Bible meaning exactly what they say. Revelation is not about guess but about revealing. Babylon is fallen with her nations. Just as soon as she started having them gather to fight the Lamb at Armageddon, they were all lost to certain destruction. Just like when Pharaoh and his army first started downhill into the Red Sea bed.
The gathered of the nations die at Armageddon and all nations will not be ruled by the Lord, so that they fall from their own rule. But all people on earth will not die. The whole world of man's own leadership will fall. That's what the promise of His coming to earth is all about. No more rule of sinful man on earth but of the Lord Himself over all the earth. Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations.

You dodged what God's holy word said in Rev. 16:19 and put forth some definition that we already know. Of course the word Babylon was used instead of Rome or when speaking about Judging the whole world Babylon was used, because Rome saw themselves as the leaders of the world, thus if the world got Judged Rome got judged, so Babylon was inserted whenever Rome was spoken about. But I gave you a concise, clear and detailed verse that shows exactly whom God sees as Babylon, and you give me double speak, and dodged what God almighty stated, so is God fibbing to us? God said the Nations that fall are Babylon the Great, the Nations that fall equals the Kings of the WHOLE WORLD, this destroys the nonsensical RCC angle. Rev. 18 is the Government Beasts the Harlot rides or was conjoined with, up until the Anti-Christ and his 10 kings decided to kill her off.
"Babylon" is a cryptic name for Rome. the ancient pagan worship started at Babylon and got picked up and spread from Rome and the system is still in place. In Revelation 17:9 it is said that she sits on "seven mountains", which scholars have understood as the seven hills of Rome. Here is a good description...

Well, who else has continued since the fall of the Roman Empire, only the Roman Catholic Church which has not let go of it pagan rites and rituals or system of worship, but entrenched into it even more. Now if you want to look at most Bible scholars or historical ones, they all agree it fits in the time line and the religious and temporal power and the location. I didn't read all the replies but I stand w/ the ones that believe America is Mystery Babylon. As of this time no other nation comes close and no it's not some sort of evil religious system Btw, in the bible a woman symbolizes Israel. There is a reason why Paul worded it that way and that's because he is using the metaphor of marriage to describe the unity we have in Christ and each other and to being subject to "one" God and not dozens which was the norm back in Paul's day in Corinth.
