Many will claim that we are not under law and this is true. But does that mean that we are no longer held accountable for our actions and that our sins are just covered up to make us look good on the outside, yet still having evil thoughts on the inside?
God forbid, for this world is in the wicked shape it is in due to sin and sin must be dealt with.
We are accountable to each other as a member of our own body for we are one body in Christ and we must love one another in the Word of truth as God gave us His love by sending us His Word in the flesh so that we could see the Word in action, not just the letter. Then when we made a decision to receive Christ, God gave us a helper, the Holy Spirit to not only reveal God's Word, but to edify us as we are led by the Spirit. We are, as one body, supposed to keep our members IN LINE with the Word following the Good Shepherd with the Rod/law so that we remain on the path to life and in safety and peace far from the dark paths where the devil can attack.
Jesus said MY sheep (Will)hear my Voice and follow me. Those who will not hear it and won't follow him are not his, even if they claim to be!
So when one has submitted themselves to the Word humbling their selves under the feet of Jesus then God is able to work in them and change their heart to the things(attributes) of God that they don't have... but desire to have. God also uses us to edify one another with the Word, and the Spirit helps us to overcome our old ways so that we no longer desire the things of old that was working death in our MEMBERS but desire to love the ways of the Spirit abiding in the Word, in the Christ to rebirth us as children of God.
A wise person accepts correction and edification for they know it is for their good and is working on their behalf to bring health, prosperity and honor to their life to bless them in the long run which shows true love.
While an unwise one will only attack, belittle, rebuke true correction because they like their evil deeds and don't want to feel conviction so they twist the correction back on to the one who tried to help as if they are the evil one for saying such a thing calling it judging, when in fact it is really for their EDIFICATION for their good out of love.
