Just posting this here because I did not know where to put it and did not want to start another thread on the same topic

Jesus said,

John 5:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

Ephes 5:9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth) See also Gal 5:22

John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

John 15:8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

Since we are filled with the fruits of righteousness by Him

Phil 1:11 Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

This way

Jesus (the vine) and the Father (the husbandman)

John 15:1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

Whosoever abideth not in Christ (or the Vine's doctrine) it says,

2 John 1:9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

Because Jesus (the Vine) had said here,

John 7:16 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine (the vine's), but his (God the Father's, or the Husbandman) that sent me.

John 15:2 Every branch in me (the vine) that beareth not fruit he (God the Father/ Husbandman) taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he (the Father) purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

Purging in the one is similarly found in the picture of chastening a Son in the hopeful outcome of yielding the peaceable fruit of righteousness in your offspring.

Heb 12:11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

These which are exercised thereby,

James 3:18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

These which make for peace are the peacemakers

Mat 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

The same shall be called the children of God, similarly John writes to the littel children here

1John 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous,
even as he is righteous.

Demonstrating in the same the fruit of righteousness which comes by the Spirit of Christ (Phil 1:11) unto the glory of God. Manifesting in the same children of God (in contrast to the children of the devil)

1 John 3:30 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

And so again,

1John 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous,
even as he is righteous.

Every branch that bears fruit is pruned. - John 15

A point that stood out to me from a Sunday sermon.

- Are you being pruned?
- What good fruit are you producing?
- Why are you being pruned?
- What does being pruned look like from a practical view?
- What gets pruned (cut away) and what is left?

John 15:1-2 NIV
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.
2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit,
while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes[a]
so that it will be even more fruitful.

Why are you quoting the Bible that you said, "no wonder I don't trust the Bible"??????

Do you and One 2 question go to the same church?

1 Corinthians 13:4-6 NIV
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered,
it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

What does pruning look like?
In the story of the sheep and the goats it appears that the attitude and behaviour toward the poor and marginalised reveal who has been 'pruned' and who hasn't.

That's a very curious observation.

Why would pruning lead to helping the needy?

These are some good questions. I think pruning is a painful process. Unlike the chastening of the Lord we see in Heb 12 it is not a result of our behavior. It's taking away the branches that are using life without producing fruit. Sometimes all that's left is a root out of dry ground.

Isa 53:2
For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground...

However with good soil and proper watering and the care of the Father, the life of the plant will explode into fruit. So shall we.

The objective of 'pruning' is to bring about the same heart and attitude that God has towards the oppressed and afflicted.
That's interesting.
How did you make the connection between pruning and our attitude towards the oppressed and afflicted?

About 15 years ago I was living in Florida. I had this big beautiful rose bush but it was losing it's strength.
The weeds had grown around the roots and the branches were all tangled with overgrowth.
I got my pruner out and started cutting away those things that were choking it.
I had to thin it and remove the dead branches to give more light and air to the new buds trying to emerge.

It was during this process I started meditating on the verses you posted above,
And I thought, I am this rose bush and God is the pruner.
And those things that need removing to bring in more light he is doing in me.

It was an amazing day. One I have never forgot and continue to be pruned daily as weeds try to take root at my feet.
The very feet that are to be shod with the Gospel of Peace.
It gets tangled from time to time.
And the overgrowth of worries and cares that wind themselves around my heart and in my mind, choking out the very breath of life God gave me.

Sometimes I forget to appreciate and take care of the armor God has given us to wear and I let my guard down and the world takes advantage of that.

But even so, when it looks like this rose bush is so overwhelmed and dehydrated and frail and about to die,
I know, God has my back.
And the pruning never ends. It just makes that Big Beautiful Rose Bush bare better Roses.

Why do you keep quoting me when you believe I am hopelessly lost?
You're still alive physically. There may be hope for you yet.
It can't be to snatch me from the fire. You WANT me to burn.
If I wanted you to burn in Hell Fire FOREVER I would shut up. And I don't want others to learn to attack the Bible like you.

You attack the Bible. I defend the Bible. See the difference?

By seeing Jesus. By hearing his words. By taking note of the words of his apostles who are his witnesses.

God's whole objective is to seek and save the lost. It vindicates his character and has the whole intelligent Universe acknowledging this his Glory.

I can't explain it, but it rings true to me. Where the New Testament talks about "fruits" (karpos), it's usually about how a man benefits his community.

Like the living water that flows not only into us but also through us.

Galatians 5:22-23 NIV
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
