Examples of Symbolism in the Bible

Even the most literal, concrete thinkers among us have to acknowledge at less some examples of symbolism in the Bible......so......name some.

Let me start us out:

I agree, the bible is full of symbolism and foreshadowing. But we must be careful I think, it's too easy to read too much into something, or not enough. So much of what happens in the OT is a foreshadowing of what happens in the NT...but that doesn't mean that the OT happenings weren't important and significant in their own way. Hmmm, let's see, which ones do I like?

The Exodus of course
Isaac being offered up by his father,
The destruction of Jerusalem and the temple in 70AD

I think those are some of my favourites, just off the top of my head!
