Jesus negated this revenge motivated passage when He said in Matthew 5 Love your enemies, pray for you enemies.....the spiritual, and psychological significance of this is astounding to me....it is further amplified in Romans where it is written "if you enemy is hungry feed him, if he is thirsty give him water, if will be like pouring hot coals on his head" When one thinks about this statement, again the psychology involved is so deep and profound it is really something which all Christians should meditate on, and think about and pray to try and follow....further in 1st Peter and in Romans it is written "do not repay evil with evil, but evil with good"....again this all reverses our human reasoning and psychology, and seems tough to follow but is it? Takes a lot of prayer I believe to get into that mindset...what do you think?
