Where did the name/title "protestant" come from?

It originated from christians who read the Holy Scriptures and found out that the RCC was not obeying God.
In fact, the RCC was disobeying God while masquerading as apostles and priests of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Example: i was raised a Catholic fulfilling it's requirements to become a catholic:
a.) Conceived from Catholic parents
b.) Baptized in the Roman Catholic church as an infant = "within the first week"
c.) Attended full-time catholic schooling.
d.) Recieved Confirmation
e.) Received Penance
f.) Receive Eucharist/Communion

All these i fully participated in these as well:
a.) praying the rosaries to Mary
b.) praying to the saints/statues
c.) lighting of candles in the church
d.) holy water in the church
e.) earnestly praying for those in purgatory
f.) and more

YET, all these things could never bring about the Promise of GOD = the NEW BIRTH from ABOVE
