I assume that we're not supposed to take this verse literally right? Cause there's the commandment of "honor thy mother and thy father" and therefore it would be contradictory of itself if we couldn't refer to our earthly father as Father. Matthew 23:8-10. I think that it's just speaking in a religious context. Just like we can call our mothers "Mother" and teachers "teacher" etc.

It was about going under the tutelage of another Rabbi.
Not the same as what a flat reading of the text is going to provide.
