I get the culture thing, see it here in the US, for all kinds of things, and have never been a fan of following the crowd. I see thousands of people gathering in a crowd, filling the streets, filling a square, and think where did they park their vehicles and where are the bathrooms...lol
I hate crowds now so I never go along to events etc, and ‘ where are the toilets ‘ is my first thought if I go anywhere !lol
I would like to add something to the earlier posts. The reason I added the information about the Queen was because she has been judge as a Christian by a few here with regards to what she has allowed, when the reality is that she has no power to dictate what decisions have been made within society or the Anglican Church. So, I do believe she has been misjudged because of lack of understanding with regards to how things are done.

@Cristo Rei
I haven’t heard anything against the Union Jack here, I know in the past there have been rules about having the English flag ( different to the Union Jack ) on cars when the European cup was being played. Not sure every one listened ( thankfully )
I think there are different levels of ‘ love for the royals ‘ over here, you get the extreme ones who won’t have anything said against any of them and they collect all the memorabilia and go along to all the events ( camping out for hours ) The you have got those who go along to events to be part of the moment , and would class the Royals like celebrities , not worshipping everything but being in awe of them.
Then you have a mixture of people who like certain royals , watch some events and just accept their status.
Then you have those who really think the Royal family should be abolished ( my youngest fits in that group )
I kind of fit somewhere in the middle of the last two groups.
