Only if you read your Bible as a science book.
And its not.
It's about God dealing with sin, from Gen 3 - Rev 22:21
God tells us through His servant Moses that there are waters above and below the firmament
Genesis 1:6-7 (KJV)
"And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so."
God tells us through His servant Moses that the waters above and below the firmament were divided
before He created the dry land
Genesis 1:9 (KJV)
"And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so."
God tells us through His servant Moses that the great lights were placed within the firmament
Genesis 1:14-17 (KJV)
"And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth."
God questions Job through His servant Elihu about the heavens, describing the sky (firmament) as
strong molten glass
Job 37:18 (KJV)
"Hast thou with him spread out the sky, which is strong, and as a molten looking glass?"
Strong? A strong sky? Yes.
A strong firmament. Strong enough to divide the waters above from the waters below.
The great lights, and the lesser lights; Sun, moon and stars, are within the firmament
