Neither do I see how the Bible can be used to explain the shape of the earth, to do that requires a lot of "imagination".
Yes, I have my own proof--not as elaborate as yours, for sure--but proof nonetheless.
Excerpt from Cheeseburgers With God:
An example of things just unfolding in life as orchestrated by God, if one is paying attention and not just thinking everything is a broken record of “coincidences”, came when I lived temporarily on Lokia Street high up Kaniau Road, between Lahaina and Kaanapali. Remember, I was a small-town, country boy, touched by God, and now halfway around the world on the biggest learning curve of my life. Learning about life. Learning about the world.
Every morning heading off to work I would turn the corner on to Kaniau Road, look from high up on the hill out across to the neighboring island of Lanai and see the wrecked ship marooned atop the reef at Shipwreck Beach. But then down at the bottom of the hill at Malo Street and the Honoapiilani Hwy—it would disappear below the ocean. No, it didn’t sink every day, it disappeared below my line of sight. Now, what do you suppose I was witnessing? Do you suppose there were forty foot waves obscuring my view every day? But, no, I would go out and cross that section of ocean every day in a boat. I knew better, and it was mostly flat calm. What then should I have learned? Was God throwing me a curve?
Yes—a lesson learned, that is exactly what God was doing! Some curves are good…and apparent.
