Adam certainly did:
And Adam called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all living
(Genesis 3:20)
this is right after God says to him '
dust you are, and to dust you will return'
any understanding of Genesis 2-4 has to be able to explain why Adam did this. why dead Adam whose death has just been pronounced changes his dead wife's name to "
life" ?
and immediately following this, God sheds the blood of an innocent one, covers the man and his wife, and says "
BEHOLD!!"
the man has become like one of Us
(Genesis 3:22)
that's '
ha-Adam' = the man, singular. the particular man, with the definite article: Adam has become like God, "
one of" the triune God: which one?
the text and the context
does not indicate it's because he ate from the fruit. it's not '
mankind' and it's not '
the man and the woman' - it's one single, particular man whose name is Adam = man.
if the truth is that '
the father of lies' was lying when he told Woman that committing sin would make her like God, then
why does God say this about Adam immediately after he changes his dead wife's name to Life?
Satan was
a murderer from the beginning: he has just murdered Adam's wife. when she confesses, Satan is cursed. not her; Satan.
she is told she will desire her husband. not a curse.
her husband changes her name to Life because he hears and believes that dead Woman will be the mother of all the living.
when Adam does this, God sacrifices an innocent substitute, covers them, and says Adam has become like "
one of" God.
this is not the result of a curse.
this is the result of great faith, great wisdom, and substitutionary atonement.
this a picture of salvation: The Lamb made Himself a curse for them, that they would not be cursed, but have life.
the way to the tree of life is "
kept"
find Christ in the story.
if you don't, you do not understand it. all of this is testimony of Him ((John 5:39)). we're supposed to
search it looking for Him.
testifying of Christ in Genesis ain't trolling,
