In Judges 6 God speaks to Gideon.
Gideon was not sure of God's voice.
He asked to show him a sign that it was really him speaking. After all, there was technically an angel speaking, sitting under an oak tree.
I feel like a lot of times I would see God as angry and Jesus as the nice one.
He asks for a sign and proof by using unleavened cakes that fire consumed.
Gideon built an altar and called it Jehovah-Shalom which I could interpret as God is peace perhaps.
Gideon's calling was to destroy groves of Baal.
knowing some immorality with Baal worship it must have been frightening and I can understand uncertainty knowing the voice of God or his messengers.
