Your quote was prior to John.

Are there people out there getting bit by poisonous snakes and shaking them off into a fire?

Are there people out there writing new books to the Bible?

The answer to both is no.

The apostles and wrote the New Testament which closed with John.

Jesus said everything went continue until it was fulfilled. The role of the apostles has been fulfilled.

Yeah, ok. You say one thing, the bible says another. God must have made a mistake.

The Bible does not say apostles will continue after John.

Give me the name of who replaced any of the apostles after their death.

So if you are correct then we have no prophets, evangelists, pastors nor teachers. Is that the position you mean to take?

I'm older'n dirt. And they are not gifts, they are manifestations. All confusion is dispelled when people actually read their bibles instead of quoting bulloney they heard from random preachers.

Do I detect a legalistic rigidity in your demeanor? You're going to fit right in here! :)

The old strait and narrow, you know. "Legalistic rigidity" is for people who want to write their own bibles.

Have you come yet to the conclusion that it isn't the doctrine per se that makes one righteous before God...but how we hold onto it?

Hmm. That seems to demonstrate my post on logic, that the first rule often is that people must like the conclusion. Many people will die for what they believe and they don't even know what they believe.

I never said that. He most assuredly was called by God.

There is debate on whether he was an apostle or not, but that is pointless to me.

Let me phrase it this way, when John died that was it for the apostles.

"I never said that. He most assuredly was called by God."

Yes, you did and we are not talking about whether he was called by God.

"There is debate on whether he was an apostle or not, but that is pointless to me."

No, it is not and I have no idea where you get this idea there is a debate whether he was an apostle or not because the scripture could not be clearer.

"Let me phrase it this way, when John died that was it for the apostles."

Evidence please.

I thought it is if there were Apostles today.

Being called by God does not make one an Apostle.

"I thought it is if there were Apostles today." Which of my questions or comments are you referring to?

You are the only one that is saying being called by God means an apostle.

And I am still waiting for your evidence concerning your comment about John.

Who are these many people?

Apostles are not replaced. They are people whom God anoints to fulfill the ministry of the apostle.
