Hello,

I'm a 45-year-old male from Portland, Oregon, married with kids & dog. I was raised Catholic though I would describe myself as non-denominational, or simply a Christian, at present. I see beauty in many different traditions. In college I was a comparative religion minor, so I've read quite a bit about different religions as well.

At present I'm refreshing my familiarity with the Scripture. I have a significant commute every day and have switched out the sports radio for podcasts and commentary. I go to church in my car two times a day :-)

I'd like to find a "daily visit" Christian forum to puts some roots down, so I'm test-driving a few...this place looks really nice.

Funny, but I used to do the same in my morning commute. Fortuitously, I found a more local position that I am very thankful for. However, I find myself really missing those 30 minutes or so of time to listen and study!

Welcome to the community here. We try to be "nondenom" in the sense that this forum is not about any one denomination or strand of Christianity, but we do have members hailing from various traditions. Like you, I find value across those traditions; there are others here who do the same.

Welcome aboard, and hope to see you around the boards.

It may sound strange, but I love my morning commute, which is typically 40 minutes or so. It's 40 minutes to listen to a podcast, Bible commentary, or other program.

The evening commute...well, honestly, I'm usually looking forward to get home and wish it was shorter. But I still try to use the time profitably.

It amazes me as I think back at centuries of Christians who at best had a Bible at home (no iPods or Walkmen back then!), and more commonly only heard the word on Sunday.
