I would like to share with those who have allowed man to teach him or her about God, that only Jesus/Holy Spirit can teach one to know God.

Remember if one sins he or she has never seen or known God.

(1 John 3: 5 - 6) “ Now you know that He appeared in order to abolish sin, and that in Him there is no sin; anyone who lives in God does not sin, and anyone who sins has never seen Him or known Him.”

You are so right!. It may take time for many believers to catch on, but we've all been taught satan's lies because man claims to have the ability to be equal to God....

Philippians 2:6
"who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped".

True, living spiritually INSIDE the body of the one who hung on the cross (as a MEMBER OF that body) requires that our spirit/character be compatible with His Spirit, but in and of ourselves, we do not truly possess any divineness/divinity. Only Jesus possesses true "divinity" and it was given to Him by The Father (He is the only true hero of humanity).

Matthew 23:18
"And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me".

Nothing of what man has put on paper (including what Moses wrote down) is SPIRITUAL AUTHORITY, only the one who hung on the cross is SPIRITUAL authority (that is what devotion is all about....SPIRITUAL), but mankind wants to hijack "DIVINE spirituality" and put it in a FORMula that we can have some control over (the "spirituality of man"/mammon).

Many believers will never be at peace with the fact that SCRIPTURE IS NOT AN AUTHORITY (it is simply to be treated as a REFERENCE BOOK, not a 'textbook') and that the only doctrine we are to be concerned with is the "DOCTRINE OF CHRIST" (Christ and Him crucified, the FINAL 'sin sacrifice').

Our devotion should not remain one of "milk" (the final sin sacrifice has been accomplished, "It is DONE") and our only foundation should be JESUS, not "repentance". There is no longer any need for "works"/deeds and "repentance" (JESUS did all the "works" for us and we should let them be manifested in our trust/"rest in Him", John 6:28 and 9:3).

"Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ AND GO ON TO MATURITY, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God" (Hebrews 6:1).

We should no longer have a simple BELIEF/faith "TOWARD" God, but a "faith for faith" also believing that He is a GOOD God that "rewards"...

Romans 1:17
"the righteousness of God is revealed through faith for faith".

Hebrews 11:6

1) "believe that he exists"

2) "and that he rewards"....THOSE WHO SEEK HIM ("draw near").

1 Corinthians 3:2 "I fed you with milk, not solid food".

Hebrews 5:14 "But solid food is for the mature" (the ones who want to "draw near".....you can't "draw near" if you were taught to be satisfied with TEXT).

Ephesians 3:16 "his Spirit in the inner man".

All verses are from the RSV.

A little context on the passage.

1 John 3:4-9 4 ¶ Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness. 5 And you know that He appeared in order to take away sins; and in Him there is no sin. 6 No one who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him or knows Him. 7 Little children, let no one deceive you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous; 8 the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 9 No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

Prism,

I've always seen people respond to posts by quoting verses without having anything of their own to say.

Because they have nothing of their own to say, there is no real REPLY (it is only a RESPONSE. not a REPLY) and is POINTLESS.

Figure out something to say.

John 3:16:For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, whosever shall believe in Him, shall not perish but have everlasting life.

John 3:17:For God didn't send His Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it.

Does Jesus have to actually appear to us to teach us?

Christ's testimony is the Bible, interpretation apart, we need to be careful that what people claim as from Jesus, if contrary to the faith once delivered, is actually another Jesus and another gospel (2 Corinthians 11)

and yes, for me that implicates much of liberal Christianity.

The Word of God came to earth "in the fulness of time" (the completion and end of time) in order to END "SIN" (transgression of the 10 Commandments can no longer separate us from God).....that's right, the WORD OF GOD became FLESH, not TEXT and hung on the cross. He ended the age of time and ushered in the age of eternity. His SABBATH rest (The "Lord's Day") is eternal.

Hebrews 9:26
"he has appeared once for all at the end of the age to put away sin"..

Mark 10:30 and Luke 18:30
"and in the age to come eternal life.".

We no longer merely 'EXIST', but now, in Him, we have "LIFE" (THE life eternal)...

John 14:6
"I am.....THE life".

By now, I think it's becoming obvious that there are many truths that were never taught by the 'religionists' of the scholar books (commentaries, etc.) and all who glorify man at the pulpit and all those who glorify themselves with the pride of being "worthy".

We've enjoyed learning about the 3 maifestations of God, but the reason we've always been so EXCITED and enthusiastic about it is that we've learned it in a way that GLORIFIES MAN (the 6th day creation) instead of GOD ONLY....

....THREE SIXES (we are our own 666 if we choose to glorify man instead of GOD ONLY)......Revelation 13:18 "it is the number of a MAN" (fallen man, God wants a "living breathing SOUL", not "MAN", so put off the old MAN).

We have to stop depending on MAN for TRUTH. Man only wants our MONEY (even the most well intentioned minister realizes that they still have must pay BILLS).

Man forms truth SUBJECTIVELY (with a bias), not OBJECTIVELY (as it really is) and lives according to whatever they have chosen to be their preferred "truth".

God had Pilate say "What is truth?" (John 18:38). The objective truth of Jesus's innocence had been declared by the state (first by Governor Pilate and then by Emperor Caesar), but because of the custom that day (andwhen the Zealots and Jews incited the people to riot), Pilate reluctantly had to send Jesus to the cross (it was because of humaity's preferred subjective truth that Jesus was crucified).

God included "What is truth?" in scripture so that the SINCERE would be able to learn something about TRUTH if we PAID ATTENTION ("TRUTH" is VERY important to the sincere).....

"because they refused to love the truth AND SO BE SAVED" (2 Thessalonians 2:6)......"I am.....THE TRUTH".

The word "Christianity" is NOT in scripture, neither is the word "bible" (they are not divinely inspired words). About 17 years after the crucifixion, the Jews that accepted Jesus to be the Messiah no longer wanted to be called by the real name of Jesus devotion (the Way), so they formed a council (the Council of Jerusalem). Only Paul was steadfast enough to remain faithful to the "doctrine of Christ" and preached that the law OF A MAN (Moses) should not be accepted by a believer and be allowed to compete with JESUS. 'Peter the Denier' went along with the Jews so that "in Antioch the disciples were first called Christians" (Acts 11:26). Jesus characterized Peter as "Get behind me satan....", Peter also said "NO" to God when instructed to eat from the sheet lowered to him (we're taught to either disregard this and even to make excuses for it). Peter abused the powers of The Holy Spirit and killed Ananias and Sapphira (and we're taught to blame this on God's Spirit).

The disciples weren't completely sure what to do, but, no doubt Peter had given them a good scare story (as he also did with the people in Acts 5,....he used FEAR so the people wanted even his shadow to fall upon them....allowing himself to be glorified instead of GOD ONLY).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incident_at_Antioch

Acts 11:26...
"and in Antioch, the disciples were first called Christians".

Acts 9:2 (who SAUL persecuted)
"that if he found any belonging to THE WAY, men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem".

Acts 19:9
"but when some were stubborn and disbelieved, speaking evil of THE WAY before the congregation".

Act 24:22 "But Felix, having a rather accurate knowledge of THE WAY".

John 14:6 "I am the WAY".

Scripture is the "WORD OF TRUTH" (look it up). It is for "TRAINING" (2 Timothy 3:16). It is "MILK", not "solid food" (we are only taught "milk" and are not taught to move on to a "solid food mature" devotion).

All verses are from the RSV.
