And no . . . it doesn't bother me in the least that you openly called me a hypocrite. :)
Welcome to Christian Forums, a Christian Forum that recognizes that all Christians are a work in progress.
You will need to register to be able to join in fellowship with Christians all over the world.
We hope to see you as a part of our community soon and God Bless!
And no . . . it doesn't bother me in the least that you openly called me a hypocrite. :)
If it's a thread that I've started, there are no rules. You, and anyone, can say whatever they like. You're just fine . . . wonderful, actually.
I believe in you!
Hi Marks,Luke 15:1-7
1) Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him.
2) And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.
3) And he spake this parable unto them, saying,
4) What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?
5) And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
6) And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.
7) I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.
Jesus is telling us how people may see things one way, but in heaven it is seen differently.
The Pharisees were complaining that Jesus receives sinners who come to him. Jesus explains that the angels in heaven actually all rejoice when a single sinner turns to God.
The Pharisees saw themselves as the 99 who needed no repentance.
I think I see the same thing on this forum, as so many point their fingers, you sin, you're not saved!! I think, JMO, God would rather we encourage the weak.
Much love!
With 'you', no. With some theology that is incorrect, yes. I was simply trying to show you something by the question method. Jesus used that a lot when trying to help people see.Have some sort of issue with me?
It has everything to do with the thread, which is why I asked. It is just that you do not yet see how it fits. I was just trying to show you.Why are you even asking a question that has NOTHING at all to do with this thread?
I am not sure why not.Not to mention the whacked out one you sent me yesterday. Aliens on other planets, okay...like I would even give that a thought at this time.
We were warned in Scripture:Not to mention the whacked out one you sent me yesterday. Aliens on other planets, okay...like I would even give that a thought at this time.
Just trying to show you the point through questions and answers that you would be able to answer yourself from the texts, without directly telling you, but if you o not desire this method either, I will leave you be.Far as I know, you and I have not had any issues but sure seems you are trying to bait me.
You are right. You do not. And, I do not have to answer your questions to prove a thing.
I will ask another question, but you do not have to answer this either, and it is related to the OP and what I wanted to share, just from another route. The question is, how do your prayers get to Heaven and thus to God? Do you know there are specific examples in scripture of how?I will be pray8ing for you.
You hit the nail on the head Nancy. The 99 who "need no repentance" refers to the Pharisees who claim they need no repentance. [For the sake of his point, The Lord is taking the Pharisees' word that they need no repentance. This is not to suggest that they don't actually need to repent.] We know this because some of the Pharisees rejected the baptism of John. John was calling all of Israel to repent, and to acknowledge the need for repentance through the act of baptism. Some refused, but John warned those among the Pharisees who came for baptism to "bear fruit in keeping with repentance."Okay then,
What is meant by those "who do not need to repent"? Are they:
-Not supposed to be real people, just illustrations in the text. So they can have the status "do not need to repent"?
-People who think they don't have the need to repent?
-People who genuinely do not need to repent?
To me, it seems that ALL are to repent to become His child. Look at the Pharisees who thought that they themselves did not need to repent...seems Christ was not so happy with them...so, you could very well be correct yet, I have to stick with what is revealed to myself. Not saying that my interpretation is correct or incorrect.
His blessings,
nancy
Yes, God listens, but did you study the part where angels are directly involved in recording our prayers and taking them back to Heaven, and bringing the answer from God to us from Heaven? Would you like some examples from scripture? This is to show that angels travel from this world to the world (3rd Heaven) where God is."Jeremiah 29:12-13: “Call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart.” Prayer: “Heavenly Father, You promise when I call, You will listen, and if I search for You with my whole heart, I will find You."
James 5:16.
"Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much."
These examples go on and on as I'm sure you know. And of course we have The Lords Prayer. Which, I see as a model - first we acknowledge Him and that He resides in the highest of heavens. Then we revere Him as He is hallowed. We pray His will be done on earth as in heaven. We ask for our daily bread. We ask 'forgiveness' as we forgive others also. We ask that He keep us far from evil and temptations as we seek His will. And after any prayer, HE is given glory and honor.
Not so sure where you are going here, but prayer is a matter of the heart and very personal between us and God. And...if we know that we are praying His will then, it WILL be done. ...
As I mentioned...there were other examples and yes, I know about the angels carrying prayers and answers to and from God. Also quite familiar with the fact that we do at times "entertain" angels.Yes, God listens, but did you study the part where angels are directly involved in recording our prayers and taking them back to Heaven, and bringing the answer from God to us from Heaven? Would you like some examples from scripture? This is to show that angels travel from this world to the world (3rd Heaven) where God is.
Ok, sounds good. I was just trying to show the nuance of where the angels go, once they leave here (this world, earth), and go 'up' past the first heaven, and the second heaven. As I mentioned...there were other examples and yes, I know about the angels carrying prayers and answers to and from God. Also quite familiar with the fact that we do at times "entertain" angels.
Some good thoughts!Hi Marks,
"Jesus explains that the angels in heaven actually all rejoice when a single sinner turns to God."
It seems that it is not the angels rejoicing, as, the rejoicing is "in the presence or the angels! So, I see that as the trinity rejoicing over the one lost sinner...or maybe it is simply His creation rejoicing? Hmmm....contemplation...![]()
Some good thoughts!
For whatever reason, I'm hearing "Angels from the realm of glory" all the time these days. But it's making me more mindful of the angels that surround us now, watching God's grace unfold!
Much love!
