That's because those Muslim women are believing in a sanitized version of Islam. Some don't even know what their scriptures teach.
Just a few Islamic teachings:
Their scriptures teach a woman's testimony is worth half of a man's testimony.
If a woman or a dog passes in front of a Muslim man praying, his prayer is invalidated.
A Muslim man is allowed to strike his wife, after refusing her their bed...if he just suspects that she is doing something displeasing to him.
The Muslim man is allowed up to four wives.

And of course in Islamic countries the women need to be accompanied by a male relative or have permission to leave the house. And in some Muslim countries, their face must also be totally covered...not only their hair and body. Sounds like a wonderful life for women...not.

Deb, if you're going to evangelize REAL Muslim women, you're going to have to talk to some and deal with the version of Islam they practice.

In the background there is always the shadow of fathers, brothers, grandfathers, cousins, uncles and husbands.

The ones happy with their lives are probably the ones following the sanitized version of Islam. The ones uncomfortable with you probably are traditional Muslims, following their Scriptures.

Are you sure you should assume that the Muslim women you may encounter in Los Angeles practice Islam the same way it's practiced in, say, Kandahar or Riyadh?
Should they assume that you believe and practice Christianity the same way a Catholic would?
Muslim women living in Western countries are quite fortunate. They are offered protection by Western laws if they will go to the authorities if abuse is occurring.

As far as secular politics I think the answers are in the declarations and constitutions and rights western nations were built on. Which was based on Christian values. It seems we are forgetting them and allowing alien ideas to erode western Christian culture.
But I think its too late. The gates been open and the hose has bolted. Maybe its the fault of democracy itself where all cultures and beliefs are suppose to be equal and allowed. But there can only be one true way and thus they come into conflict.
I think this has come about by nations rejecting God and then socially engineering their own versions of what is good and just in how society and the world should be ordered.
Its got to a point where western nations have to allow alien ideas and beliefs that they had for millenia thought were evil and destructive. Like a cultural monster has been created that is destroying itself over control. Whereas in the past under God nations were united.
At the very least it is a house divided and a house divided will fall in one way or another. Its certainly trying times.
I think this is the time Christians can shine. There are many ideas and beliefs at war with each other and none are the answer. None ever produce the promised peace and justice.
Christ is the answer. So the more Christians shine Christ by being a good example and not like the rest. Seperate to the waring identities and principalities. The more this will expose injustice and evil. But also turn peoples heads to God.
The world will not be able to fault Christs church and come to God. While others will double down and hate Christ even more.
