If you were educated AND ordained – you would know better than to refer to it as the “RCC”.

Once again – if you had actually been educated in the Catholic faith – AND ordained into the clergy – you would KNOW that this question is a moot point to a Catholic.

The Canon of the New Testament is believed by ALL Christians, yet it s a TRADITION of the Catholic Church. Time for a History Lesson . . .

The Synod of Rome (382) is where the canon was first formally identified – ALL 73 (not 66) Books.
- 11 years after that, it was confirmed at the Synod of Hippo (393).
- 4 years later, at the Council (or Synod) of Carthage (397), it was yet again confirmed. The bishops wrote at the end of their document, "But let Church beyond sea (Rome) be consulted about confirming this canon". There were 44 bishops, including St. Augustine who signed the document.
- 7 years later, in 405, in a letter from Pope Innocent I to Exsuperius, Bishop of Toulouse, he reiterated the canon.
- 14 years after that, at the 2nd Council (Synod) of Carthage (419) the canon was again formally confirmed.

The Canon of Scripture was officially closed at the Council of Trent in the 16th century because of the perversions happening within Protestantism and the random editing and deleting of books from the Canon.

OSAS?
Infant Dedications?

Then, why did Jesus and the Apostles practice Oral Tradition?

Matt. 2:23 - the prophecy "He shall be a Nazarene" is ORAL TRADITION. It is not found in the Old Testament. This demonstrates that the apostles relied upon oral tradition and taught by oral tradition.

Matt 23:2 - Jesus relies on the ORAL TRADITION of acknowledging Moses' seat of authority (which passed from Moses to Joshua to the Sanhedrin). This is not recorded in the Old Testament.

1 Cor. 10:4 - Paul relies on the ORAL TRADITION of the rock following Moses. It is not recorded in the Old Testament. See Exod. 17:1-17 and Num. 20:2-13.

2 Timothy 3:8 - Paul relies on the ORAL TRADITION when speaking of Pharoah’s magicians, Jannes and Jambres. Their names are not recorded in the Old Testament.

Jude 9 - Jude relies on the ORAL TRADITION of the Archangel Michael's dispute with satan over Moses' body. This is not found in the Old Testament.

Jude 14-15 - Jude relies on the ORAL TRADITION of Enoch's prophecy which is not recorded in the Old Testament.

You need to take the whole context into consideration. Unless you’re dead from the neck up – what “sign” is there is a non-virgin having a child the normal way?? That has happed billions of times.

The sign was that a VIRGIN conceived.

So according to you, (as it isn't actually taught anywhere in Scripture) that it is okay to disobey a commandment. Your interpretation of Scripture overrides the Scripture itself. Everyone understands that it is good and right to rest in Christ. That is another commandment. Many scriptures attest to that. What no Scripture attests to is that resting in Christ replaces the observation of the holiness of the day.
