I fail to see why I should give preachers my email.

Recently I tried to listen to a few sermons on the internet.
I could not connect unless I post my email address and post a password.
What's wrong with these ministries? Why register, just to watch and listen?
I guess they would like to bombard you with emails and be big pain in the neck?
Such a hassle and uncalled for.
Any thoughts?

No idea why they would want your details unless it was so they could keep in touch for some reason or other. Maybe to ask for donations? But perhaps that's a wee bit cynical.

They're probably money makers and selling your email address.

A way to listen to someone and circumvent that is to type their name in YouTube and listen from there but without going to their page or channel until you see if they have character.
Sadly, the man might and yet those put in charge of the website don’t.

Demanding an email and password is a good way to limit one's outreach. I would not bother. And it is plain stupidity. Why is there so much stupidity today? The preaching of the Gospel should be totally without any obligation on the hearers (and no appeals for contributions either). But it had better be the true Gospel.

I never bother watching youtube vids if the uploader has disabled the comments section.
It means their snooty policy is "I talk, you listen"..:)

Maybe they use emails to contact people to raise money.

Matthew 10:8
Freely you have received; freely give.
There's another scriptural passage I ran across the other day in Matthew that warns against turning the church into a business. And the gospels also spell out that the apostles worked for their food. They didn't take tithes to pay their way.

Yes. Jesus didn't like the fact that people used the temple for businesses.
