I've been dealing with alcohol and depression for a while and was so angry at God for not healing me of my illness and taking care of my current situation, everything in the world was telling me to forget about God and even my own self. I was so frustrated that I told God to "Leave me alone" and "I don't want anything to do with you." I felt like i was being torn in half, not living God's way i was feeling awful, and trying to live his kind of life felt difficult. But today i found a scripture that spoke directly to me on my Google homepage, right before my internet service went out due to the storm, 1 Timothy 4:1
1 Timothy 4:1 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. God truly answers prayers. I praise him with all that I am through Jesus Christ

We all face this kind of thing from time to time and you are not alone. I've always been taught that God does indeed answer our prayers but that we cannot always see how .

The ebb and flow tide of faith is something that most Christians deal with. It manifests in varying forms certainly, so don't be fooled into thinking you are alone, ever. If no man or woman will stand by you God always will. He's always there and you don't have to get his attention; you already have it. (Matthew 18:20)

[bible=I John 2:14-17]
I write to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one. Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world--the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions--is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.
[/bible]

Note who these instructions were written to - strong young men who have overcome the evil one. Doesn't that tell you that there will be struggle if these men who John - someone fairly qualified when it comes to faith - warned them about things of the world?

What a wonderfully honest post.

Yes, it is amazing how one verse can take us right out of depression or doubt or fear.

Hallelujah.

And welcome here, jon.
