You seem to have rightly identified that Catholicism is not Christianity, but they just make it very obvious. Protestantism got literally all of its doctrines from the Catholics roots they cleaved off from. If you're a Protestant, I would check very closely what you are being taught at church or what the beliefs are you hold. Chances are almost of all of those doctrines are from the Catholics. If they got it all wrong then the Protestants can't be in too good of shape either.

The beauty of rejecting sola scriptura is that you can make up any doctrines you want. Christians stick to the word of God. Catholics stick to whatever men in the Catholic organization tell them. Paul warned against people teaching a different gospel. That's why we stick to the scriptures.

Just as Islam is not a religion but a political ideology that masks as religion,so too is Roman Catholicism not Christianity but an amalgam of Pagan polytheistic pantheism and Roman government , as was extant in its Representative Republic.

Catholicism is a heretical sect of Christendom. they have the gospel but have loaded it down with much heresy.

Many Catholics are Christians because they do trust in the death and resurrection of Jesus for their sin. They are just stunted in their growth by Catholic false doctrine, like others in all the sects of Christendom who hang onto the teachings unique to their sects.

Brother, Paul told us that the scriptures are sufficient for us to be COMPLETE. The Catholic Church rejects this and says that what Jesus and the Apostles taught is INCOMPLETE because the CC has added a plethora of doctrines.
