Identity

You get your identity from the Christ in you, or you get your identity from what you do. When in the world the big push is with education, especially in the times we live in. Some find identity in their work and the prestige of status. Climbing the ladder so to speak. And of coarse money makes the world go round, and identity can be found in it. Keeping up with the Jones used to be a term that was used, but not so much anymore. There are to many Jones to keep up with. We live in a very prosperous time thank God.

There is nothing wrong with education, it is an important part of life. Work is honourable to be desired. Money is a necessary part of living in this world.
When we find our identity in anything other than Christ what happens to a believer. What happens is; a believer struggles working out situations in life. Nothing fits the belief system you have in place. You have moments where you skip across the mountain top only to find in time you come full circle to where you first started. Paul admonished about adhering to another gospel in Gal. Chapter 1. But what he tells us in the chapter is the curse of not knowing how to sort life out.

I'll give an example that most have been through; in a deep dark hour needing help or to talk to someone. Crying out for help, you open your heart to lets say a trained professional, maybe a psychologist, or some other profession or even a close friend. And as hard as they try they can only give you what we call "a pat" answer. They do not have the answer, you need answers and they cannot help you.

That is the curse Paul is talking about, you never can get the gospel fixed in you as Paul says we must in order to be established in mind. Your identity comes from another source and keeps you from your true identity. The gospel Paul preached will establish you and give you the proper identity you need for life, Romans 16:25

25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,

If you are having a hard time sorting life out you must give yourself to understanding Paul and his gospel. It may or may not jump off the page to your understanding, but the thing is you have tryed everything else. It may take time for the renewing of the mind to see it's proper identity, you have been going opposite of who you are for so long, but the Lord knows and is there to bring the believer to their true identity which is "Christ in you the hope of glory."

nice imo, ty. I might add that there is a cliche among therapists in ref to patients' um responses to their "pats," that being "we're still waiting for the therapy to begin," possibly even after many visits, a year even. Might be pertinent here. Oh plus you could regress yourself to the day you formed your identity, at least the one you believe is you, usually involves a mirror seems like, but i only have like four other cases besides my own to go on there. Anyway good on ya :)

Yes, seeing yourself as being joined with Christ is a awesome truth indeed. This being joined with Christ Jesus is a truth that never stops giving.

Thanks for such a heart felt post.

God is alive and well and working in you, it shows!

Blessings,

Much love in Christ, Not me

13“What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you shut the door of the Kingdom of Heaven in people’s faces. You won’t go in yourselves, and you don’t let others enter either.e

15“What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you cross land and sea to make one convert, and then you turn that person into twice the child of hellf you yourselves are!

So, let's sing it one mo time,
"When we aaalll

Well, I wish you all the love of Christ in your relationship with Him. May He bless you with all good things.

Yes it’s a 6 cylinder 1800cc. I had a steering and suspension upgrade done on her, so for her size she is quite maneuverable in the twisties. But she’s a touring bike at heart, weights in at about 950lbs, so when I get in them, I just slow and steady. Planning a 3-4000 mile trip this summer Lord willing. Should be all sorts of fun!

Blessings,

Much love in Christ, Not me

What some people (Christians included) don't seem to understand is that when they identify with temporal things, that is what they put their faith in. Could be money, fame and notoriety, professional sports...so on. What happens when the money runs out, or fame and notoriety escape you, or you break a leg and can't play your sport anymore? You are left with nothing but a pile of shattered faith. As Christians, our identity should always be Jesus, first and foremost as He is The solid foundation and, no mater what happens in this world...we will still have Him to pick up our pieces ♥

Fwiw Colorado is so beautiful--well, the Western Slope anyway--that we lose one or two locals bikers every year or so because they just rode right off a cliff, ok, sightseeing

True, you know I don't want to seem to hard on our helpers along the way. Good counsel goes along ways when it is needed. The point in bringing it up is, even the best at best is a ministry of helps. No different than all the other ministries in this world that help people. But, here we go ha, that is all they can do, that is all they are ordained to do. Take any government, they are necessary in the world, but they are just helpers. They can keep peace, they can provide assistance, and a multitude of other things, but they are not the answer for mankind. The world is a schoolhouse, who in their right mind wants to stay in the schoolhouse. We all pass through it, but to live in the Father's schoolhouse is torture, mental anguish comes from the schoolhouse.

And back to the words of Jesus we have come once again...

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Matt 6:33

When we put other things first, even apparently the best that men have to offer, our foundation is wrong and then... with even the very best of building materials, the house falls down in the storms.

Amen to that John! It brings me such peace and assurance knowing that our Rock is steady and forever ♥ I have had my fill of what this world has to offer and, no thanks. It was allot of decades of "world fill" too. His grace is well, out of this world!!! :D
