Does anyone else have trouble sleeping? What do you do about it?
I used to take Ambien but I would find that I had gotten up in the night and posted on Facebook and ate but I couldn’t remember it. One night I woke up in my truck and I had ran into a power pole and I had no idea how I got there.
Then for a while I took Klonopin for sleep but it made me a zombie, so I was weaned off of it and now I take Seroquil one night and Doxepin the next. Alternating them helps to keep them working well. But the Doxepin doesn’t work as well so I take a supplement called Somatomax with it. Only now I can’t get anymore, it’s banned in Alabama.
So this week I went without sleep Tuesday, slept good Wednesday night and most of the day Thursday, slept Thursday and Friday night, then didn’t sleep at all last night

I have occasional nights when I just can't switch off, but after lying there for more thanan hour I get up. make a hot drink - decaffeinated - read for a while and then go back to bed.

I have found that relaxing my eyes is a good way to get to sleep. When I can't switch off I have noticed that my eyes aren't relaxed. If I relax them sleep often follows. If your eyes are relaxed you can't keep thinking.

Yes, I let my eyes relax and every breath out I say "Sleep " to try to get everything off my mind. It works sometimes

you have to wean out these drugs gradually, cut the dosage then cut them out one every other day then stop completely. Why cant you sleep? thinking of the problems?, work coming up the next day? well dont, just dont think of anything special and you will soon sleep, takes a bit of practice but you can do it.

Also a good habit not to watch TV, pr computers, tablets at least 1 hour before bed, listen to music the one that you find calming, that will help too, NO light in the room , better if completely dark, our physiology demands it....

I agree but these meds will make it worse because as you see, they stop working and mess up your brain receptors, its best to wean off them, as a researcher I know this, they can be used but only very occasionally and never daily. you need to establish a sleep routine and stick to it.

Cheers.

I’ve been having this problem for almost 20 years, I weaned off some of the meds but I don’t see getting to where I don’t take anything

Well I slept until noon today. Seems I either don't sleep at all or sleep too much.

Hey RLT63. I am sorry the sleep has been so up and down, with nights spent wide awake and the days that follow feeling foggy. That exhaustion is real, and it does not mean your faith is weak.

Philippians 4:6-7 says, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Paul is inviting people who already feel anxious to bring the real requests to God, and he names a peace that guards, not a shame label for feeling worried.

I am praying that God meets you in the middle of the night, steadies your mind one moment at a time, and that you feel held even before the sleep fully settles.

Pace with Grace is a free Scripture-by-situation library, not therapy.

Ugh. Sleeping too much is just as bad. I have to hit the 7 hour mark, maybe 8 hours. If I go 9 or over, I feel groggy for the rest of the day. Wakeupx

Tylenol PM used to buy me 5 hours. It doesn't work anymore. I just take mini-naps during the day.

A late-night conference call where most of the subject matter doesn't concern me seems to help.
