Since I was born again I have only belonged to two church fellowships and the leaders of both always encouraged us to search the bible for ourselves to make sure it was in line with scripture. I think any preacher or church leader that doesn't encourage bible reading and searching is a bit 'iffy' and specially wrong it they actively discourage it as certain cults/sects do.That is right Pearl.
Even listening to me on these videos, there are times what I can say may be wrong. Test all things and hold fast to what is good. When I do teach I try to be lead by the spirit and let it lead. It something people resonate to - when hearing spiritual things from another in which leads to looking to God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
I believe personally, you can see a persons intention by what they say though it is good to discern and not to be deceived by anyone who try’s to lead a person away from Christ, and make it about themselves totally, or start making religious demands on another individual.
Where the spirit of the Lord there is freedom and Jesus came to set us free from the bondage of religion, also of sin and death.
